Lots of stuff to see from Neolithic to the late middle ages. Reasonable entrance fee includes audio guide.

If you like museums...... there's plenty here to look at covering the history of the city from Roman times. The only trouble is it takes so long to look at everything that you are quite weray and footsore at the end! Free audioguides were provided in English.

This was a wonderful and really cheap museum with all the information about Évora's history dating from the Romans and Medieval times.

Stunningly amazing!!!Well priced and given a hearing device to explain most exhibits, and there are many. You'll see statues, old restored art as if it was newly created. You would not expect to see anything like this in a small city like Evora. The pride in preserving the heritage here is a no brained once you visit this awesome museum.

I would definitely recommend a visit to the Evora Museum. The displays are excellent with informative commentary in both Portuguese and English. Evora is awash in history: medieval history, Roman history, megalithic history. You should spend days exploring it all, but a visit to the museum will help give a more rounded perspective on how all the historical puzzle pieces fit together. I took a tour of the megalithic ruins *after* I visited the museum and some of the pieces in the museum formed part of the commentary of the tour. In other words, I had a better appreciation of my megalithic tour as a result of visiting the Evora Museum. As an added bonus, there's an absolutely first-rate audio commentary guide that you can pick up when buying tickets. And the audio guide is free--even better. The Evora Museum is an absolute must-see for any visitor to this beautiful UNESCO World Heritage city.

A wonderful architecturally interesting building combining modern structure with ancient walls, the collection was terrific and quite extensive for a small museum. You can walk around at your own pace, and the staff were very helpful. A must see in Evora.

The best paintings are 15th &16th century Flemish ones and so the best strategy is to ascend to the first floor and do the pictures first. The rest of the museum is well set out, but the displays are of variable interest and quality. The palace has been beautifully restored and is a treat in itself.

Virtually no visitors in this great museum. Go so you can see for yourself what 1000s are missing as they wander outside to see the Temple of Diana [what little is left]. Do spend an hour or two here.

Went there two days running, because I stupidly missed one of the most fascinating sections - the prehistoric collection downstairs. Among some great displays perhaps the most memorable were the carved stone plaques that evoke owls, costumed figured, etc. The lady kindly waived the charge for our repeat visit. Small enough museum not to leave you dizzy.
