      美丽的大学城徒步可及的美术馆,风车,运河,游船,美好友善的人们,最喜欢的欧洲城镇之一.值得一游再游的小城.来登车站非常新颖而衬托古老的大学城,年轻活力的学子,深具魅力!

I was very pleased to see this wonderful windmill turning, proving that they're not all icons of the past! Such an iconic element of Dutch history.

Leiden, is the city where Rembrandt the painter was born and raised. This is an old city dating back to the Roman times. Its a charming city, that has given the Dutch many painters. This city is best I think done by foot, walking next to the Rhine. The architecture is harmonious yet does not become repetitive. The bridge is an example of Dutch engineering, and the whole walk was just a photographers delight. The street lead into small old lanes with their own charm. The windmill is very pretty, but we dint go in, it was a lovely sunny day.

Very photogenic and free entry into a working windmill, what more could you ask for? Well worth a visit but very steep stairs to climb to get in , so be prepared!

If you're in Leiden for a few days you'll probably pass by anyway :) It's worth a visit but not if you don't have time for many things to do if you ask me. However, yes, nice pictures can be taken here ;)

This is a beautiful little windmill, but want to heartily recommend that you visit De Valk before visiting this one. De Valk (the big, stone windmill in Leiden) will teach you all about the history of milling and the importance of windmills in Dutch culture, and it will make this little mill much, much more exciting. Also note, it is only open on Saturdays.

This mill is a newly build copy on a scenic site. The nice thing is that volunteers keep it running.

I read about this attraction on Tripadivor when I was preparing my trip to Leiden. Well, it’s worth to pay a visit tot his small attraction but keep in mind that it is only opened on Saturdays and a few festival days. We enjoyed watching the mill on a sunny day at one of the seats near the mill. Nearby is the Mors city gate and the river Rhine so this mill is also a nice starting point (10 minutes from the railway station) to discover Leiden.

If you are from the Netherlands or have been in the country long, windmills are no longer that exciting - but this little guy is so quaint and to get here you stroll along a really gorgeous part of town. Well worth the walk...the site itself is not overly exciting.

The 25 on the outside of the building is how many years ago this replica wooden cornmill was built - the original mill dated to 1619. The steep steps up to the grinding room give insight into a long ago way of life, but we were there too early to see it in action. It is right next to a classic Dutch white lift bridge over which one is only steps away from where Rembrandt was born. From our hotel room window we watched the sails turning later in the day - something I hadn't expected.
