Visited Kinderdijk in September and had a really great time. My friend and I took our bikes from Rotterdam over on the boat and cycled down the walk way between the rivers. It wasn't a very sunny day but still enjoyable and beautiful scenery. We packed our own lunch instead of finding somewhere there and just ate on one of the park benches along the river, which was ideal. We then went onto cycle to Dordrecht to eat at Villa Augustus, which I would also highly recommend!

On a windy day, when you can´t even walk the path or take a ride with a boat because of that strong Holland-wind, you don´t need to go Kinderdijk, because what you can visit is just a mill- within some equipments. It is interesting of course, but there is nothing else:(The path should be beautiful on a sunny day, but i don´t think i go a second time to prove it.

You can walk along the river bank and see a group of big & beautiful windmills. Great for a fun day out and to make great photos, especially on a good weather day. You can try to take a panorama photo which is quite dramatic too. No fee for this attraction but if you want to go inside one of the windmills then there is some fee. There is a carpark right at the front, which is very convenient.

The Kinderdijk mills are a beautiful site fore history and architecture lovers as well for regular travelers that want to know the Netherlands. Many of the mills are from the 1800 and are a beautiful site. I recommend going there by train or bus (ask google maps for the lines which to take, tickets can be purchased inside).

We stopped at Kinderdijk with our Viking River cruise and it was by far my most favorite stop. We visited in December and it was very cold but still well work the visit. There is a mill that you can visit and climb to the top. There is an nice visitor center but the best part is just taking in the scenery and the mills.
