My husband and I visited this little museum February 2015 and enjoyed looking round. It tells the story of old leicester and how people used to live.it is also home to daniel lamberts belongings who was the world's biggest man for a long time(before modern day obesity problems )...my only criticism would be that there is no café but it's not far from Leicester City centre so a 5mins walk and there's plenty of nice eateries in the high cross centre

have a day going round the good leicester museums, couple this with the guildhall and it will keep the kids and adults happy. have a picknik in castle gardens. loads of history and its not stuffy like the new-walk museum

All kids should go here , it's shows what men and women did for us , it's free to get in , and it as a mock up war set up, makes you think !!!!

Worth a small museum ! It's a nice few minutes walk from nearest car parking areas. Facilities for parking bikes or buggies, a very clean and well kept area.

Looking for somewhere local to visit when we had some friends over from another county. Nice walk in the area then into the Museum. We were all very impressed with the detail and information given. Nice that it is kept as local history. Well worth a visit.

this is a great museum, takes quite a while to walk around, lots of displays and a mock up old street with shops that you can walk in and sensors play pre record sound of people talking as if there were customers. Entry is free but there is a donation box.

Location -near the Magazine Leicester -Everyone in Leicester knows the Magazine -so askA lovely old building with wooden staircases and wooden panels, Inside a museum which tells of "Daniel Lambert" the fattest man in Leicester -who used to be the jailer.Tudor rooms, an old street. On the first floor is the Leicester Regiment museum - well set out and very interesting -the Leicester regiment spent alot of their time in upper India. That might explain why so many Indians have come to Leicester.The museum has some unusual items of military interest.A donation is expected -and you would be very mean if you did not make a donation.

all the museums are worth a visit in Leicester but thenewark house and gardens is a real treat for the kids. they learn so much and in an interesting way. there are so many little staircases to explore it is truly a good place to take the little ones to learn about the past. my children loved it and they take their children now.
