This passed an hour and a half on a fresh spring morning. We particularly liked the hands-on experience of being able to feed fruit and nuts to some of the birds (at the price of £1,50 per bag). We didn't go until the afternoon though, and the kids were disappointed that a lot of the birds wouldn't take the nuts from them. They were probably over fed and bored of peanuts by then! There was a nice, but short walk around to view the other birds, which mainly consisted of lots of parrots and three emu.The kids were more interested in the playground which, to be fair, was a very good playground. The canteen could have been better. It wasn't the cleanest and a lot of the tables needed clearing. The breakfast that my partner ordered wasn't great - the rubbery egg & the taste gave the impression that it had been cooked several hours earlier. My vegetable chilli was nice though. Tropical parrot land may be a more accurate description. Overall, it was a bit pricey for what is there in my opinion.

Such a brilliant day out! We wanted to do something a little different for Valentine's Day as going out for dinner amongst hundreds of other couples all doing the exact same thing isn't really appealing to us. So we decided on a day out somewhere, and as I've been wanting to visit Tropical Birdland for a while now we decided to go there! It wasn't the best weather but it really didn't affect our visit at all, some of the walkways were a little muddy but it wasn't a problem. It looks tiny when you first arrive but is much bigger than expected! We spent a good couple of hours walking around and feeding all of the birds - there are a large variety and they are so entertaining, especially the emus! I definitely recommended that you purchase plenty of nuts and fruit from the front desk as feeding and interacting with them is a big part of the experience. Some of the cages you can go into and they will land on you!We went as a couple but it would be great for families too - I would say more appealing to older children though as we did come across a couple of smaller children who were quite scared of the bigger parrots. Tip - we had breakfast at The Food Room in Desford beforehand. It is a tiny little cafe so with limited seating, but the breakfast is really good!

We had been looking for something to do on a cold but sunny winter's day and having seen the brown signs for this a few times, we decided to give this a go. We were very pleased we did: it was an absolute delight to stand in the sun and have birds of the most amazing colours come and perch on your shoulders (in certain areas) and very delicately take your offerings (it is certainly worth buying a mixed bag of bird food with your ticket). Nice to see our native birds highlighted too in the woodland area. Some of the parrots and macaws will investigate buttons with their beaks so you have to be firm (but gentle) with them about that. We loved it and will definitely go back!

Spent about 3 hours here, could have been longer but was a freezing cold day. Absolutely loved it, especially the bird walk where all the birds were free. Amazing. Great day and great value

Our visit here was during a cold snap but we were quietly surprised. Yes some of the walkway was cold and muddy but the hands-on experience is a nice touch. Slightly pricey for what you get but for the work the owners are trying to achieve its worth it! Nice, basic info on the birds on show. Getting into some of the cages is a very nice experience for all. Baldness of some of the birds can be of concern but we were assured that this is a reflection of the birds trauma they may have gone through. The birds are, on the whole gentle in taking their treats, as long as you don't offer your finger as food, you'll be fine. A bag of nuts are a good idea to purchase on the way in to allow some interaction with yourself and the residents. There are other options to feed the other feathered residents which can be used too. There is a park and a cafe towards the end of your visit which can give you time to re-energize (after washing your hands of course!) or to burn off the excited energy still left. The shop at the end offers you to buy some usual treats for the little ones to remember their visit by or if you feel that it has ignited a passion to purchase a tropical bird you can speak to staff to find out what can be done as they rear chicks for sale. Overall a small / basic place that looks like it is trying to improve its facilities for the future. Well worth a visit.

I have been here many times with my partner and we have casually walked about feeding the birds! Staff are friendly, there is a big play area for children and a nice cafe. Birds are super friendly and at the end there is a large area to hold parrots and feed them. Wonderful experience. Mind you buttons though, one parrot stole mine from my jumper!!!!

Been here many times, a super place to while away a few hours, the parrots are so much fun, there is a White Cockatoo, that loves button and shoe laces, they will join you for a picnic, there there is the Macaws that love feet, open sandals are not a good thing, most of the birds are rescued or bread there, the people that run it, are very informative Go along take the children, you can get food or take your own, Last time I went was £6-00 to get in

Spent a couple of hours here, the birds seem very well lookee after and will very happily take food when offered (make sure you buy a couple of bags). The walk in aviaries alloww you to get really close to the birds and the open air bird part allows you to feed them easily and also shows how happy they are to be there as they could fly off they wanted to.

Had a lovely day out here - birds are looked after so well and they seem to enjoy the visitors company - many are very, very tame and like to land or climb on you. Lovely place, easy to find, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the birds fascinating! Perfect.

We visited to see Santa and were not disappointed! The fairy walk with your lantern to Santa's Grotto was magical, we stopped to warm our hands at the fire pits along the way too, whilst waiting at the grotto our 2 children were each made a balloon model before we went inside to meet the man himself, we didn't feel at all rushed and Santa showed the children how he puts the magic into the gifts, the snow queen was also worth a visit, everything was of a very high quality. If I had to say anything negative it would be that I would have preferred to have seen more craft & game stalls as you are allotted a time to see Father Christmas you have to find something to do. Oh yes the food in the cafe was very reasonably priced. We will be going back!
