We visited the Ruislip Lido Railway last month for the first time this year. It was fun to travel along the track through the woods. Ruislip Woods is also a delightful place for walking. You can walk around the inside of the railway track on a hard path or around the outside of the track in the woods and along the Common but you will need stout walking boots because it is muddy for at least half the year. You can also climb up to the top of Haste Hill if you want to do a more demanding walk. There is a new railway café at the end of the track which serves tea, coffee and cake at very reasonable prices. There are two car parks with plenty of parking places. There are public toilets in two locations around the Lido as well as the one at the railway station. Walking in Ruislip Woods is free but there is a modest charge for the train service.

Havent been for a while as kids are all grown up but this little place is lovely! A trip around the scenic lido is a must for anyone in this area with children. Especially at Christmas when you can see santa as well

Kids love the ride, which takes you to and from the "beach". Plenty of parking near the entrance station. A dedicated team of volunteers keep the train running and their enjoyment is infectious.

I grew up in Ruislip and used to play in the woods and go fishing and swimming at the Lido. It's fortunes have waxed and waned since but it's in the ascendancy. The railway has gone from strength to strength, there's now a good cafe, children's playground and woodland visitor centre on the beach side and the restaurant seems popular.Ruislip woods are ancient woodland and fantastic for walking and playing in. They were the first National Nature Reserve in London. And it's all free (except the railway and cafe).

Delightful miniature railway, great for all ages. Well worth the trip round on the train and so well looked after and loved. I recommend many visits.

I used to go here when I was little, and it brought back lots of good memories yesterday when my friend suggested going to the lido for a walk. The lido is free entry, they have put in a new car park, cleaned the man made beach area up, created an outside excersise area, and made a really good children's play area on the beach (which also has a disability roundabout in it).The cafe is nice and clean, serves hot food and drinks, as well as cakes and soft drinks. The railway is still there, but doesn't run in winter so we didn't go on it.A really beautiful place, with good paths to walk round the lido, beautiful views, and really good faculties - definitely will be going there more often.

The council re developed the lids and added a new car park and toilet block at what is called Willow Lawn. It is only open during the spring and summer season. There is a n overflow car park at the cematorium. Do not park on the roads as the meter men as always passing by.The lido is a cheap day out, especially for kids.

Was good and worthwhile on a leisurely Sunday. A nice place to go out for a few hours if the weather is good. Definitely worth going during the summer months when the weather is good. One issue is that there are very limited toilet and washing facilities so bear this in mind.Another issue is that there is very limited car parking next to the Lido, however, you can park on nearby roads that are a few minutes walk away.

We arrived a the Lido with two friends and their young child. Avoiding the railway and touristy area, we walked around the outside of the wooded area between the lake and the golf course, actually outside the fenced area. It was a great nature walk through a natural wooded area, occasionally catching glimpses of the lake through the trees. Hard to believe that we were so close to civilisation. We walked in a clockwise direction, starting from the open gated area and re-entering the area through the gate by the start of the railway, and beach.A five minute walk around the lake took us to the pub/restaurant where we had drinks and moved on before the lunchtime crowd arrived with their noise. The free car park opposite was excellent, and took all the strain off a very enjoyable mornings expedition. Beautiful place for chilling out amongst the trees, bushes and mud. It was October...
