The walks around Mugdock are fantastic with something to suit everyone, particularly the dog! The castle gives kids a great opportunity to explore, and the cafe provides a welcome treat at the end of the walk, or is a great place to meet people. The gift shop always has unusual and good value gifts.

Love the fact that you can borrow their mobility scooter and take it on a trip round the park. The office will provide you with a map showing the routes suitable for the scooter. Although I can only walk a very short distance I can now borrow the scooter and take my dog for huge walks!

Kids have always loved this place and it's still a favourite to walk the dog and have a catch up with family. Plenty of variation in where you can roam.

Great for a day out wether it be winter or summer, love the pond right down past the castle in summer, the wee cafe also does some good food

I live quite close to here and have never visited before. What a suprise. Not only some fabulous walks but this park is also steep in history. The park used to be a zoo and their are some nice stories in the cafe about the elephant that used to reside their.Their are good facilities that appear to be open all year round: a cafe, a tea-room, toilets, art gallery, gift shop, two castles, world war 2 battlements, lakes, a garden centre and even a theatre.I would highly recommend a visit to this country park. It is one of the best I have been in.

I visit this park about once a month, primarily for dog walking. It's very well maintained with a good network of paths and fantastic views, particularly towards the Campsies. Two ruined castles, some WWII anti-aircraft gun sites and a loch add interest when walking around the park. Good car parking, a choice of cafe/ eateries and regular events make this ideal for a family day out. There is also a children's play area next to the visitor centre and a garden centre nearby.Film fans can visit the quarry where one of the scenes from Shallow Grave was filmed and the visitor centre courtyard featured in an early episode of Taggart before it was developed.I regularly meet runners and mountain bikers in the park and it would be ideal for these activities.

Lots to do and see and the new courtyard places to eat are an added bonus. Lovely for a walk with the dog or the kids/grand kids they can explore the castle ruins, have fun in the adventure playgrounds and then something to eat and drink in one of the many eating places - from a snack to a full meal. Well worth a visit.
