This is a real surprise situated near Randalstown. There are many different types of birds here, owls, falcons, eagles etc. These birds have mostly been rescued from neglect, accidents etc. They are cared for on a completely voluntary basis and are really well looked after. It is great to hear the stories of where they have come from - some from far abroad. There are some other animals there also. It is well worth a visit, but try to pick a "good weather" day as it is all outdoor walking, but all on the level!

Great Staff, Great place, its a charity with no funding assistance, yes some things need painted and or replaced but from what I seen its is being done as we speak. You want to help, then visit them, donate to them, help them. Someone mentioned the toilets??? I am a semi regular visitor and the loo's have always been spotless!! There is nothing dirty about World of Owls the staff keep everything hygienically clean for animal and human.

Interesting place and splendid location for walking and relaxing. I can see where they are gradually carrying out improvements and this deserves credit. Toilet facilities should possibly be on the hit list but it is after all an unusual place for a visit. Keep looking onward and upward.

A while back we had a free day with the grandchildren. Search all the known attractions and seen The world of owls wow thats worth a try. So of we went into the forest and a day our grandchildren will never forget. The staff were so kind and helpful and they dont work for money just for the love of owls. I will be back soon and wish other bigger council own attractions would learn from staff like this. Thank you 100% funday.

Saw this by browsing the Internet. One of my girls loves all things owls so we decided to go as a family (Mum, Dad, 3 daughters - 1 is 16 and the others 20+). Excellent day! Great variety of owls and birds of prey. Almost like a sanctuary - acquiring birds that are no longer wanted by ill-advised pet owners as well as injured birds. We went in January and will certainly go back again at Easter. Matthew, a volunteer at the centre was very well informed and the highlight was being allowed to hold Oscar the Owl. So cheap to get in - but do give more as all monies go to the upkeep of the sanctuary. Overall - highly recommended!!

I am glad you enjoyed your visit, even a little. We are a self funded charity run by volunteers and some young people on placement. We are just commencing the refurbishment of our inside display, but please bear in mind that we are a rescue centre not a fancy funded zoo. It takes a long time to save for things. I have never before heard of any of my staff not being talkative, this is a first, read the other reviews on here. My guys usually never shut up and are very passionate about what they do. Maybe caught someone on an off day, we are only human. Take care and Merry Christmas.

I live locally to THE WORLD OF OWLS, as I drove past the sign posts, I kept saying ''some day when I have the time, I will visit'.Eventually I did visit, and I was so amazed at getting to see, so many birds and some other rescued animals. I visited when it was feeding time and was able to chat to some of the staff,(most of whom were volunteers) who were knowledgeable, & friendly. It is an excellent place to visit - how else would you ever see these beautiful birds of prey. There is also deer visible close by.

World of owls is a sanctuary where nearly all owls and mini beasts are have been rescued or donated to the centre. We went on a damp Friday, as we approached we were concerned it wasn't open, but as we approached the entrance we were welcomed by 2 very enthusiastic volunteers who left us to wander around the various aviaries, before we headed inside to see the reptiles and spiders. When we got inside the 2 volunteers had 2 macaws who had recently been donated. We talked for ages about various birds and mini beasts. They really were interested and interesting. We headed outside to have our picnic, which was briefly interrupted by the resident chickens, we didn't mind, but the volunteers insisted on shutting them back in there homes whilst we ate, and they were soon left out when we had finished. A nice personal touch. The visit was completed with the offer to see a Harris hawk up close. Ben was lovely to see up close and hold. A superb occasion. Please, please, please support this centre. We were told we would be the only visitors that day. They need your support. They could be doing bigger and better things if they could get more grants and more people through the door.

Found out about this by accident but so glad we did.Staff were good & friendly & the animals were very interesting. Small local shelter so every visit will help.
