We only visited the resort for a day. I can't ski or snow board but gave it a go without a lesson, maybe need instruction next time!! The best part was the slegderun, about 2km long - brilliant

I'm travelling around Scandinavia from Australia and never snowboarded/ skied before. I've now had 2 snowboarding lessons here and the instructor was amazing. He taught me so much in those lessons, I was even confident to go down the blue hill alone after these 2 lessons only falling once :). He was also so patient with my constant complaining and being too scared to try everything. My friend also got a lesson with a different instructor and said he was also amazing, they know exactly what you need to work on and how to fix your mistakes. They are a great team and you can put all your trust into them as they watch and help with everything you need. This is the prefect place to learn as its not too busy, so close to all the accommodation here and its so cheap! Thank you!! Definitely recommend this resort.

Those of you who know your Laurel and Hardy might be familiar with the refrain "I can't get over the Alps". Well here you can. Saariselka is the perfect alternative to the hurly-burly of alpine resorts, with reliable snow, uncrowded pistes, no queues, a peaceful snow-covered forest setting and friendly locals who don't display the anti-British default position of some in the (former) Axis powers. Any downsides? Well, it can get very cold, there are few challenging runs for the expert skier and the après-ski is pretty much limited to a single bar that looks like something out of Northern Exposure. But, if you want vertical black runs and nightlife until 4am, then why not go to St Anton?

Very quiet on the slopes even though it was British half term.No lift queues. Good cafes. Good view from the top of the fell.

ski rental is possible just by the slopes, 15min walk from the Lapland hotel. Or just take a ski bus for daily rate of 5 EUR.

We went to this Resort in the evening, in search of the Aurora Borealis on a night on our own. This was a FANTASTIC place to see the entire sky. It was not too far of a drive from our hotel. No one told us about it, it was a lucky find. If you are on your own looking for the Dancing Lady in the Sky, give this place some time!

Our family (2 adults, 2 teenagers, 1 child) spent the holiday in Saariselkä. We are fond of cross country skiing. This year there was perhaps more snow attached to the trees. The scenery is absolutely fabulous, especially in the moonlight track and Rumakuru. The tracks leaving from Saariselkä center start uphill and returning back downhill, leaving a pleasant experience when coming back. All tracks are accessible from the hotels and cottages, you do not necessarily have a car. The track services (rest places) information was not accurate and there could be more signs on the tracks.

Great resort for novice skiers as the runs aren't long and all the lifts are easily accessible from the hub. There is ski hire available on site, a cafe and little huts with fires in to keep you warm!

Although cold the slopes were lovely to ski down, several of the runs were closed but there was enough of all the levels to keep us amused and several off piste areas, the kids lovely the snowpark and both restaurants were pleasant to sit in and warm up with a hot chocolate and baileys.
