I liked this musium - science, some local history and much on the arctic circle and the life, wildlife, geography & astronomy. Modern and great experience

My visit made me appreciate the arctic environment better and how the indigenous people integrate with it. It showed me what special skills are required to live and even thrive and developing a culture in such a harsh climate.

Excellent trip. All thermal clothing supplied. You drive your own vehicle. The Ice Hotel and guide were outstanding.

The whole Arktikum has different rooms to visit. You will learn about the history of Sami people but also from various scientific research such as northern lights. There are also various room that are well made for families, thus offering the opportunity to everybody to learn about Lapland!

Museum and Arctic Science Centre - I visited on a Sunday and there weren't too many people there. The exhibitions are well curated, nicely set out with enough information for you to gain a good insight into the history and culture of the Arctic, Finland and the Saami. I liked how the exhibitions were seamless in that they were all inter-related and presented a very holistic picture of history, people, culture, nature. I found the gift shop quite pricey and limited selection.

It's a museum where you get an insight in the history and culture of the region . Very well documented and organised , it gives information about the surrounding nature , the burning of Rovaniemi during WW II , the Sami culture . Certainly worth a visit .

The best part of the museum was the mini-planetarium with the northern lights animation featuring the firefox legend, which was well done. There were some interesting old films of the region,an ice cave and some pretty Sami costumes, but the rest was your run-of-the-mill stuffed mooses and bird calls; good if you're killing time before a flight. Overpriced though.

The design of Arktikum is nice. Basically, Arktikum shows displays of the history of Indigenous people, aurora and climatic changes. These displays gave my friends and I a booster knowledge. At the end of Arktikum building, it is facing a lake. We were told that we might see aurora from that direction if we were lucky. But we were not lucky at all. Arktikum is a "good to visit" but not a must.

Is a small musuem but gives a comprehensive explanation on the history of Lapland area as well as the Sami population.
