A lovely museum, although unlike the National Museum, many of the displays lack English explanation. The children's activity room was great with lots of real fossils available to handle and examine, but there were also activities for children in other areas eg the display on bones, which we enjoyed a lot. There are plenty of excellent dioramas to excite the children and a really nice section on Finnish nature. Although we went to this museum as a second choice becuase the awful weather had ruled out our first choice, and our boys were at first reluctant (not ANOTHER museum) they were quickly drawn in and became really animated, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The shop is limited and expensive, however.

It's been quite a while since I've visited the last time and I was expecting a good experience. It did not disappoint! I like this museum and will definetly go again. Neat and clean and well structured over all. Suitable for children and adults alike.

The museum is great, the attention to detail in most of the scenes is exceptional. But all things are written in Finnish and Swedish, not not in English, which is weird because 70% of the population speaks English vs 49% Swedish, not to mention the majority of tourists most likely speak English.

The natural history museum in Helsinki is easily walkable from the city centre.Unlike nearly all the museums in the UK which is free entrance, the entrance fee is €10 per adult and €5 for children. As others have mentioned the museum is closed on a Monday, so please take that into account when planning your stay in Helsinki. On our visit last week, it must have been school break in Helsinki as the museum was full of parents and children. This wasn't any issue though as they were all having a great time and well behaved. Something we have noticed in a lot of european countries except the UK which is a shame.Any how, the museum is set over several floors, and is packed with stuffed animals for you to look at. It's kind of like being in a huge taxidermy. It's quite interesting, although if you have been to other natural history museums, then this isn't too different, so you may find seeing the animals repetitive.

Now after the extensive renovation this a great museum. I was really amazed and happy to see how great work they have done with the museum. The old museum was a bit sub par.I think this is actually more interesting place to visit than for example New York's exhausting American Museum of Natural History. A lots of interesting and high quality items. A very compact museum so no need to walk through miles of half empty rooms.Luckily they got rid of some the really old crappy stuffed animals. Taxidermy technology and materials have developed significantly over the years so they looked a bit outdated. They had also added some interesting details like small introduction with a life size figure of researchers working for the museum plus many engaging things.

Great for kids and adults. LOTS to see and read including material from prehistoric age. Cool dinosaur fossils on the uppermost floor. Also many stuffed animals, but limited material in English. *Pro tip* for English speakers, if you go get the FREE audio guide from the desk, it helps a lot and there is a LOT more material that is provided that is not otherwise available. For some reason or another almost no one had them on. I spent several hours here and still could not finish listening to everything. So best spend several hours if you want to cover it in detail.

Place and content was very nice. I went with kids and they just loved the experience. Also distracted and nice for adults...

It was an interesting museum. Not a lot of rare or one-of-a-kind exhibits, but still very interesting. Also worth mentioning that most of the animals were "in-action", like a tiger hunting an antilope and birds sitting on a hillside. This made it more active and engaging, but the level of interactiveness could have been better.

Nothing special 30-40 or more years ago you could see the same thing in the same form in any similar museum. It's haven for taxidermy lovers. No interactivity just stuffed animals and species in outdated exhibition form. The descriptions are in Finnish and Swedish sometimes rare comments in English. Luckily you can get audio guide, but the cashier does not offer it, you need to ask it especially. Lot of family in there with small kids, but i think mostly because in winter time the Zoo park is cold and in Helsinki not so much attractions. This Museum is just waste of money (10 euro).

At only €8 for adult entry I would definitely recommend this for everyone, I really enjoyed myself! It was basically mostly taxidermy and skeletons but very interesting ones at that! Don't expect a museum on a London scale or you 'll be disappointed, but definitely worth the money and a visit!
