This is one of my favorite museums in Bucharest. It's located in a beautiful historical monument and has over 30 interesting art collections, including plenty of Romanian paintings. It's totally worth a visit, but you should plan for some three hours to have enough time to see it all.

These galleries are huge!! And well worth the walk. Entrance is inexpensive and you get your coat looked after too. Like many galleries, there's a lot of little interest but you only need a few gems to make it worthwhile. In the museum of 'World Art' - the usual starting point, I loved the small Impressionist collection. There were many other fine exhibits but I can't stand a gallery for too long - I get full, so I really enjoy just a few paintings. There were some great Rodin sculptures too.In the collection of Romanian art the winner by a mile was Nicolae Grigorescu. I've never seen his work before, but I will go out of my way to see more. It is wonderful, interesting studies, well composed and brilliantly executed with a distinctive style. There was a huge amount more but this alone is worth the five stars and a visit.

The museum is very large. You'll need a full day to walk and see the art collection. There are multiple paintures from famous paintors, the entrance is acceptable. As far as I know there is a day during the month when the entrance is free.

The art was well displayed with a large variety of artists. The exhibit also included paintings, rugs, carved furniture, ceramics, and oriental treasures. In addition, there was some jewelry, silver service ware, and ivory carvings. The matting of the paintings often matched the wall color, which enhanced the art.

Satellite of Romania National Museum of Art, the Art Collections Museum is the most beautifully presented and interesting art museum in Bucharest. Hosted in a splendid, recently restored neoclassic palace, the collections cover almost everything an art lover would dream. Whether you like paintings, Romanian traditional art, Japanese stamps, Chinese or Persian ceramics, Tibetan Buddhist art, beautiful pieces of furniture, jewelries, silver, porcelain, glass or cashmere, you will find some amazing pieces. I particularly appreciate the large number of Romanian paintings. Painted by famous or less known artists, they demonstrate an extremely rich Romanian artistic life, well related with other European painting schools. Careful and very pleasant presentations of each collection offer an intimate view into the Romanian collectors’ rich and colorful life at the end of XIXth and beginning of XXth century. The Art Collections Museum worth more than one visit, as it is too big for just few hours. If you don’t have enough time, I suggest to wander through the rooms, enjoy the richness of the collections and stop for what catches your interest. The museum don’t have its own website, but a very good virtual tour is hosted by the of Romania National Musem of Art website: http://www.mnar.arts.ro/The-Art-Collections-Museum

Art Collections Museum is housed in the former Romanit palace whose construction began around 1812. It is paced on the most famous route in Bucharest- Calea Victoriei. The palace is one of the major landmarks of the early modern architecture in Bucharest. Those 34 art collections hosted by the museum, could give you an insight on the most outstanding Romanian painters such as Theodor Aman, Nicolae Grigorescu, Ioan Andreescu, Tonitza Nicolae Gheorghe Petraşcu, Pallady, Lucian Grigorescu, Iosif Iser, Camil Ressu Francis Şirato, etc.It is open on Mondays and Tuesdays when the other museums are closed.

I know that some people feel that it is a shame that the collections are no longer in their original settings, but I felt it was at least good that the collections have been kept together, rather than being dispersed among different museums as they often are in the UK. There were a lot of interesting works, such as icons painted on glass, and a lot of paintings by Romanian artists, but there was nothing that impressed me as much as some of the works in the European section of the National Museum of Art. Very attentive reception staff, but I found the security staff rather too attentive: one of them followed me from room to room!

An outstanding art museum and palace. The palace and the front-garden were modernized after 1989’s “casualties” generated by the “terrorists” fighters invented and never-unveiled who they really were by the first president of Romania after ’89. Never mind, the museum is actually in the former location of the Royal Palace taken over by force by the Communist regime, where the former last king was really forced with the gun on the sight, on 30th Dec. 1947 to sign his abdication (being threaten that in case he will not sign the abdication, the Communists will kill 1,000 students arrested for anti-communism riots). Later, as an irony of faith, this palace so hated by the Communists became one of the palaces used by the last Communist president, Ceausescu, for high ranking visitors official meetings to impress them and also for the … December winter corrals of the kids forced to come to sig to the “most beloved nation’ son”, corrals with the words specially adapted for him personally and not the usual Christian winter corrals songs, as the Communists were atheists (Ceausescu was very megalomaniac and with a very high cult of his own personality). The art collection contains absolutely exceptional pieces of the greatest Romanian painters, sculptors and also some of the top international too.The palace interior is marvelous and it should not miss from the must to see list of objectives, being also located in the core of the center of Bucharest, easy accessible by all means.
