I was on my way visiting the famous Hill of Crosses, when I had some free hours till my bus' departure. I visited this place during those free hours. I like cats, so when I saw in my tourist guide book that there is a cat museum in this city, I was eager to check it out. Let me start with what I would consider positive about this place. The idea of opening and then being able to keep it working for years is really honorable. The first part of the exhibiton is a cute one in deed. Lots of little objects, all cat shaped or somehow in connection with kitties. Lots of pictures, images (more like home made, not professional) showing cats. An extra is the cat designed windows!Moving on the the negative part... The above mentioned first part is cute, but definatelly is not worth the 5 Litas entrance fee. I expected something way much different and more interesting. The distressing part was not this part, but the second part. After entering a door we step into a mini zoo, in an area of two not too big rooms. I was aksing myself is this a joke? Birds in small cages, one of the birds on the floor in the corner not looking too healthy. Huge albino snake (this is actually an interesting one)in next cage. Rabbits, chinchilla next room. And a monkey in the corner literally showing sad emotions, cameleon also, some cockroaches and other bugs also. All of the animals had small areas, all kind of species in a room with 30 C° in it. Seriously? I am not that animal protector type, but in this "Cat museum" I really felt sorry for those little animals put into jail in this museum. Kids might like it, but partens should be thinking about bringing their children there. In conclusion, i was very diassappointed and also very surprised, if any museum like this can still operate today. I am sorry to say, but i dont reccomend coming here, have an icecream in the walking streat instead! :(

Opened in 1990 to an unsuspecting world who still can’t quite get over the shock, Siauliai’s quirkiest museum by far features over 10,000 cats manifest in every possible material from ceramics to postcards to stained glass.

This is an utterly charming, low-key place to see everything to do with cats. Kid friendly! I loved it, and I don't even like cats. Also, there is a "back room" that the curator will insist you see as well. See it; the introduction to it is very funny (in a classically Lithuanian way).
