The old town is a bus ride away from the station or bus station and consists of a few small streets with shops restaurants and churches. The square includes a large church converted into a museum and tourist information office. The partially renovated castle is beyond the square. Walking back from the old town you come to the modern town with a long pedestrian street. It took over an hour by train from Vilnius and was not worth the trip.

Small cosy old town, Vilnius street with loads of caffes to have a dinner or grab some beer. cheerfull people. Loved the winter themeand street performers. Sure to visit :)

Probably the best plate to be at late midsummer evenings! Right before sunset... The small restaurants serve really good food, and the people are really nice!

Good historic atmosphere and plenty of good places to choose from to eat and drink. Take your time to explore.

You're hungry? There is a range of cafes: Chinese, Italian, local and other sorts of food. You wanna go clubbing at night? You can choose among quite a few beloved places that are open until as early (or late?) as 6-7 a.m. Silence seeker? There are gorgeous churches around the Old Town. Fancy meeting someone? That's one of the most popular places for rendezvous, all year round.

Kaunas old town is really old and very alive - lots of restaurants, cafes, pubs, small shops. You can get really good food, but its busy on the weekends, so its better to reserve the table for Friday or Saturday night. Its the most popular place to meet with friends for a drink, especially in summer, when you can sit outside. Or just take a walk from the Freedom avenue through the Old Town to the park at the end where two biggest rivers collide. Or take a boat tour and enjoy the Old Town from the waterside.

It felt safe at all times, a gorgeous range of bars and restaurants which were far more contemporary than where I live in the UK. A great place for students, couples and even families because it felt safe at all times, even at midnight. I wouldn't have a problem going on my own as a single woman next time either. The houses and cobbled streets are lovely to photograph. It snowed while we were there so it topped our break off!

walk down the old town is very nice where you can visit many places..Museums, cafes, restaurants, churchesand etc..It depends on your needs and interests Perfect place for photo-shooting day or night it's amazing!

Just take a walk from the city hall all the way until you reach the big white church. Hwve a djenus pietus (dish of the day for 3-4 e) in one of the restaurants on your way

This is a lovely area to wonder around day or night. Nice places to see like the Cathedral and castle and a vast array of coffee shop, bars and restaurants
