This is a wonderful small museum which is always open as the owner and the founder of the museum still lives there in the building. He came out to greet most of the visitors and we get a live tour guide for him showing the secrets of his hidden box, a real viking knife! The view is directly to the sea and outside the museum you may climb up to the tall viewing platform - only if you dare! But it does woth it, breathtaking views from the top. Ypu can also see the owner's famous boat. Highly recommended place in a beautiful area.

Kasmu sea museum has a selection of artefacts, maps and artwork relating to the sea and local surroundings. I felt this was more of an art installation than a museum as the objects are arranged very beautifully around the museum. There are no descriptions in English (not that I expected any as it is run by an Estonian couple) so you don't know what everything is but it is nice to look around. It is definitely a labour of love and a lot of work has been put in this beautiful little museum.Outside you can go down to the local dock and see the Viking ship the owner has built. There was a sign saying there was a trip out at 4pm, unfortunately we had to leave Kasmu before then. It was nice to walk around outside, there are benches and toilets and free wi-fi.Although though not a conventional museum, Kasmu museum is definitely worth a look if you are in the area. There is no fee although donations are welcome.

Na een rit door de bossen kom je in dit kleine dorpje, dat over een zee museum beschikt. We hadden een rondleiding geboekt, en kregen dus een degelijke uitleg in verstaanbaar engels. De kapitein zelf spreekt nauwelijks engels, en is al zeer oud. Zijn aanwezigheid, als verzamelaar van al deze stukken, maakt alles pittoresk. Toen hij hoorde dat we van Belgie kwamen, rommelde hij wat in zijn schuiven, en haalde een boek met postkaarten boven, die door estlandse matrozen naar huis waren gestuurd, met oude postkaarten van Belgie... Charmant.
