We we're looking for a hill walk in or around the Clifden area. Called into the Visitor Centre at Connemara National Park. We walked the Red route of the Diamond Hill. Works out at roughly 6.7k from the centre. The route itself is extremely well constructed using a combination of local stones, heavy duty deck boards and crush and run for some of the paths.. The route itself would not be suitable for everyone although there are 2 less challenging routes. The views from the summit are beautiful. (Note.. The red route is closed during adverse weather conditions) Well worth a visit.

I went down to Connemara National Park along with international students from Dublin. It was really a great place, provided the weather is perfect. You'll come down across serene places on the way to connemara. Don't forget to visit Kylemore Abbey and have delicious food in the cafeteria. There were a lot of sheep on the road, so it was a place to drive slow.

Beautiful drives. Sky road especially. We took all day to make the park loop. No regrets. Almost missed two beautiful waterfalls since we didn't see them sign posted. Keep an eye out.

This is, to me, the jewel of Ireland. Where its soul lies... And the reason I keep coming back. One in a lifetime views, ambiance, sounds and people...

If you like nature, hiking, walking and striking landscapes then this is def a place you should not miss. Entrance is free and there are a number of walks/hikes that you can choose from. I went at the end of Feb which isn't a pleasant time to go with the icy wind and rain, but I still loved it. Go.
