We went on a day which was pouring down with rain but this didn't dampen our enthusiasm. Large number of fine horses and donkeys, very well schooled and you could stroke them all without any issue. Because of the torrential rain the displays were cancelled but we still got the opportunity to watch practices, which showed some brilliant dressage. Pony activity for younger ones, giving them the opportunity to groom the world's most patient pony, plus a bit of talk about grooming and looking after a pony.

Excellent value (only 5€ entrance for adults), Lovely old buildings, enjoyable displays and shows. It's worth checking the website to find out what's on and when, but I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes horses.

Arrived at Haras in the afternoon and was thrilled to discover we could watch 3 seperate displays, the final one which lasted fifty minutes. They were professional interesting and well choreographed to show different breeds of horse and their capabilities. The site itself was brilliant and virtually every stable was filled when we visited allowing us to stroke the horses and see them up close. It was clean, well maintained and easily accessible with our buggy. At only 5euros for an adult and free for the under 3's this represents excellent value for money. It really is a must see venue particularly for horse lovers!!

Visited the Haras a couple of times; once there were no horses there and, frankly, it's a bit boring without. A couple of other times there were training and events going on, so it was quite good and a nice setting for that.

Lovely day out if you like horses. You work out a timetable that suits you for visiting all the different parts and seeing the activities. The only one that didn't work was the carriage ride. We waited at the spot by the entrance marked for us on the map by the guide. The ride started over the other side of the property so we had to run like mad. The guided visit was good, with a translation sheet if you don't speak French. The guides have learnt their spiel by heart because the sheet was an EXACT translation. They were happy to answer questions in English if asked. Some beautiful horses to see and some interesting displays. Very limited food on site but we had time to go out and eat at a restaurant or you could take a packed lunch.Considering how the stables where my teen rides smell, this was very clean and almost smell free.

This gem is a must especially for Horse and pony lovers. Understanding French is useful although not essential as a English guide to facts is provided at entrance. There are two shows in the afternoon one particularly for childrenExcellent value at 5 Euro per adult (2013)

Perhaps it was the time of year, but we only saw a very few horses. The compound is interesting, but it looked decidedly in need of a tidy up.

Liked the time the staff took with the animals and the riding displays. The horses also seemed to enjoy their work.The Riding school also holds local art exhibitions occasionally. Check out their website

Sublimes chevaux! Au coeur de la ville de la Roche sur Yon, les haras de Vendée sont un véritable conservatoire du monde équestre. Dans un cadre arboré où l'ambiance empire est très présente, vous pourrez y découvrir une extraordinaire collection de chevaux, (j'ai eu un faible pour les lusitaniens) et d'ânes. Les animaux sont superbes et parfaitement entretenus. Les odeurs de foin, d'avoine, de paille mélassée, se conjuguent à celles du cuir et des chevaux. Un pur moment de bonheur pour les amoureux du monde équestre.
