This village was the centre of 19th century pastoral painting. It is a delightful place to stroll around it has a small museum, lots of galleries and artists and some delightful restaurants

Our guide and driver took us to the quaint village of Barbizon today which was great since we had just gone through the Musee d'Orsay two days ago. To see where the Impressionist painters lived, worked, ate and painted on the walls and furniture was very interesting. Many of the paintings are on display. You must go.

We liked that they try to recreate the history with old furnitures but for a school which host 30 painters, very few amount of paintaing and history to discover

A lovely little village with some nice cafe bars and shops plenty of art shops. a nice stroll around the village is a must take in the art gallery and the small Musee. may be a morning or afternoonthis is one not to be missed. it was a place all the famous Artists loved to use it as it was a good place for the paintings.and the surrounding Forest as well. if travelling in the summer monthstake in the lovely Ice Cream shops that is a MUST.....

A visit to Barbizon is well worthwhile if you are in the Fontainebleau area. Loads of good eating places and lots of paintings made of mosaic line the High Street but also the musee de Ganne a little ex aubèrge which has been kept partly as it was when all the impressionist artists were in the area. Very small but interesting and only 3euros entry. See this for a little while and then head into the forest to see what the artists were so fascinated by. Wonderful walks - best forest in the Ile de France

Es un tipico pueblito Frances de artistas, muy tranquilo. Se pueden encontrar varios talleres de artistas y adquirir verdaderas obras de arte. Es un pueblo donde vivieron (y viven) los grandes artistas impresionistas. Tuvimos la suerte que en la galería del pueblo se presentaba una exposición de arte moderno de escultura y pintura llamada los 7 pecados capitales, la cual nos gusto mucho.

Venir à Barbizon ce n'est rien de Paris,découvrir ce musée magnifique,l'école de Barbizon!!! et aussi le joli village.

Bien sûr il n'y a pas de grandes toiles mais tout l'ambiance d'une époque qui allait entrer dans l'histoire. On ressent la vie à Barbizon...excellent film de présentation

je connaissais barbizon et n'étais jamais allée au musée, quelle erreur !!!nous étions un groupe de 15 personnes et avions pris la visite guidée. Nous sommes tombés sur une personne passionnée qui connaissait ce petit musée à la perfection, seule, je pense qu'en une heure c'était fini, grace à cette dame çà, nous a duré plus de2 heures avec un très grand plaisir, sans aucune lassitude certains de mes amis ont meme dit qu'au départ, ils n'étaient pas partants mais après, que des éloges, il faut vraiment y aller

Village magnifique ne pas manquer la visite du musée de Ganneet surtout assister au diaporama à la fin de la visite car il raconte le pourqoi de l'existence de Barbizon.
