Wonderful lake near Clermont L'Herault that covers everything bar boats with motors or jet ski. See plenty of people fishing both from boats and from side of lake, camping out for the night as well. On the lake is windsurfers, kite surfing, swimming, local boat lessons, pedalos and equipment hire in summer. Out if the water, loads of walking and mountain bike circuits from easy trips beside the lake to full blown 'black' rated routes around the lake and local area.It has various beach areas around the lake, it's not sand though so some sort of footwear preferred, plenty picnic areas etc and you can easily spend the day here.Well worth a visit, sport or just relaxing.

A friend and I spent the afternoon at the Lac. We parked at the Presqu'ile and and took a walk around. For swimming, the water temperature in September was quite warm. Bring suitable footwear since the volcanic soil is coarse and sharp.

Two days ago I was sitting with my cousin, my french friend and my great-cousin on the shores of this incredible lake - perfect peace, stunning location with a spiritual vibe. Silent almost with the exception of one or two boats on the lake. a dream-like place which I will visit again - so if you are in the area take a picnic, a chair or two, swimsuits and just relax in this magical place

This is fine for families who want to to sit and play on the grass by a lake. Yes there were lots of colours but there were lots of big ants too! The activities included wind surfing, boating, kite surfing etc. Families had also brought fishing nets to pond dip. Don't forget to wear water shoes since the terrain is rough to get into and around the water's edge. There are quite a lot of picnic tables but these are taken early on, as are the trees for the shade. A pleasant way to spend a few hours but it's just another lake!

Visited on a warm sunny day in Spring. The reservoir was low and much of the iron rich reservoir bottom was visible contrasting brightly with the new growth of the deciduous and darkness of the evergreens, and the clear blue of the sky reflecting onto the reservoir. Whether you have come to participate in waters sports at the east end of the reservoir near Clermont l'Herault, fancy a bit of off roading in your hire car at the north of the lake (not somewhere you would take a campervan) or want the peace of the outdoors at the bottom west, there is a place for you somewhere on the lake. We barbequed in a cove at the bottom west of the lake and were startled by a passing water snake (or maybe we startled it). Watching the sun go down over the lake was special.

a reservoir is not always beautiful, but the Lac de Salagou is. Lovely beaches, impressive rock formations, a splendid vegetation - worth a visit and worth spending a day there.

This lake is a great day out for the family when visiting the region. It is blessed with some lovely scenery from almost every angle. There are numerous areas which you can set up camp for the day at different points around the lake. There are different activities available including mountain bike hire, various types of water craft, archery and a giant inflatable assault course. If you don't wish to participate, or be near these activities then the lake is big enough to get away from the crowds. The lake has very gently sloping shorelines which are pefect for kids to swim and play. The beach area is hard ground and gravel like texture underfoot and suitable aqua shoe are recommended. There are no sunbeds or parasols to hire so you need to take our own equipment. The French families are highly organised in this regard and the trees offering shade are claimed very early in the day. Places to eat, drink or visit the loo are thin on the ground and expensive. We had a great day out here. Go and enjoy it but make sure you pack everything you need to maximise your enjoyment.

Lake swimming in the UK often means muddy banks - not here. Fine gravel gives near-sandy beaches, almost complete privacy, and fresh cool water. We saw, but didn't try out, plenty water sports: it was enough to picnic by the trees, where we could hear (but not see) the families on the little beaches either side of "our" trees. Just right for the whole family, three generations of us.One tip - there's nowhere to eat by the lake, but stop off in Salasc for some excellent ice-creams.

Salagou is just a must do if you are in the region. Just don t go where tourists are, and avoid the local tourist shops, eateries and rental places and you ll find a great wild open ready for you to explore. Ha, but be careful, the wind is really strong at times.

We went to the Salagou from Pezenas, with our 1yo toddler. We rented some bikes from Ozone, who were very good at providing everything we needed, and made sure we were ready to hit the track. We stopped en route for a picnic and a swim, and then when back, spent more time playing in the water with baby.Overall, couldn't have spent a better day out.
