This is a must see in the Languedoc. Lovely drive upto the site, the castle draws you to it. 10 minute walk to the site, but it all gives you that feeling of walking back into history. The castle itself is awe inspiring. You straight away feel how high up you are and the views are amazing. You definitely feel like you deserve lunch down in Cucugnan after a morning at the castle.10 euros for me and my boy was I felt a bit steep for it, considering we went on to visit Carcassonne castle the next day and that was 8.50 for me and free for my son.

As a few others have mentioned the hairpin roads can be hairy on the way to the car park and be prepared for a walk to the top. We visited in September and the view was amazing you could see for miles. Well worth the long up-hill walk.

Visited this castle on an early Sunday morning in Early December is was cold and windy. The almost 1000 year castle is very well kept. It sits on top of a mountain and it is a fairly steep climb, but absolutely worth it. The views from from the observation tower are gorgeous.

One of the forts on the Cathar trail. Small fort but worth a visit especially for the panoramic view of the Pyrennes at the top of the chateau.

There are a series of these cathar castles dotted throughout the Aude region of Languedoc. Many are worth seeing, so I will rate them all at once because it is worthwhile getting your Cathar passport at the first one and then getting a discount at the rest.Spectacular.Try also Perypertuse, Aguillar, Carcasonne, Lapradelle, Abbey de Frontfroide and St. Hilare (just some of the ones I have been to). Best time to visit is Early October as this is out of season in this part of France and, with the exception of Carcassone, they will be very quiet.

After some careful driving to this castle we were rewarded with amazing views, so high up in the Cathare mountains. It was amazing that this castle was built so high up, the views are stunning, the castle was certainly a sight to see and i would definitely recommend going to see it even if, like me, you are scared of heights.

History says this is the last place where the Cathars resisted to the French crusaders. When you see the high isolated peak, you understand that it is impossible to take, except by starving the population. An interesting visit, with a breathtaking windy experience at the passage of the gate. An impressive hall with a huge pillar, a mysterious walk down narrow stairs and corridors, great views of the plains, mountains until Spain, and the not so faraway see, nothing is missing for an unforgettable visit.

We are staying North and East of Carcassonne. So our GPS took a straight south through Lagrasse and over the pass. WOW, what a drive. It you get car sick don't take that route. If you like blind hairpins turn on a road you swear is only big enough for your car, then by all means have at her. Queribus is an amazing site. Well preserved for it's age and vistas from any angle. Once you see how remote this place is and it's location on the ridge you will get a better understanding of why it was one of the last cathar strongholds.

Breathtaking because if the drive up doesn't scare the bejesus out of you, then the following climb most probably will! However, it is worth it and it's possible for most abilities if taken steadily. The views from the top of this Cathar castle are awesome and make the climb completely worthwhile. I loved it. Facilities are limited to a couple of wooden hut loos near the car park and a very modest shop but really, that's not what you're visiting for is it? Staggering to think how it was built and serviced.

if you like castle and history, it is a plc a to go. the castle is well maintain and it is a bit a claim. The view is very good and you can visit and enjoy your day. Enjoy and have fun
