We found the reserve by accident and had to make a real effort to book for a later date when there was a carriage tour available, but we were so pleased we did. Our French was not up to the standard of the guide's information but we got the gist of most of it and she did bravely offer to try to translate for us. We loved being so close to the bison, and the sanglier, and the horses, and all their youngsters, the carriage horses were great and we learnt a great deal. If only we spoke better French - but it was a beautiful spot and a wonderful experience.

OK, forget the big five. You are not going to see elephants, leopards, rhinos and the rest. But have you ever seen a herd of bison or the famous Przewalski horses ? Here you will see them and in ideal conditions. The setting is low alpine, green prairie surrounded by craggy mountains covered in pine forest. This is where other wild animals - mountain goats, stag and boar will be hiding in Summer so you are unlikely to see those in July/August on the horse driven coach tours. You can just walk, but all walks are accompanied. There is a good restaurant with a buffet libre and wild boar as a main course (they have to cull the males in Winter) and there is a well stocked tourist shop. There is accommodation for those who wish to stay overnight or longer (modern purpose-built chalet) and courses are available for those wishing to study the environment in more detail. Very much recommended for adults with children.

Before going further into details, I'd just like to remind you that our Reserve is not at all a zoo if you haven't noticed. Here people are respectful, peaceful and aware of the internal rules. Our main goal is to protect our wild animals and we are not keen to let tourists disturb our work, made with integrity and passion for over 25 years.But since I've noticed by your profile here on Tripadvisor that you are not a regular traveller, as this comment seems to be the only one you’ve made so far, I can understand that you might still lack the judgmental skills you need and which you will gain with your future travels. We well remember that you booked our restaurant for 4 people and 3 children, everyone chose the buffet and you were the only client among 36 peoples served this day who didn't want to pay a 20 euros menu, which includes a glass of our Red Wine Beaume de Venise ! You also mentioned the safari, and I have to apologise if the Reserve de Mont d’Azur didn’t meet your expectations, but once again, we're not a zoo where you will see thousands of animals locked up in cages and NOT in their natural habitat.In our Reserve, it’s all about our wild animals free on 700 hectares of forest as it’s explained on our website.We can understand that you have a different perception or needs from our traditional visitors whch appreciates our job for dedicating ourselves fully to the well-being of our animals and the nature surrounding them.We, together with our community and our visitors, are very proud of what we do and we’ll keep doing it by continuing to receive with pleasure clients from everywhere who shares the same philosophy.

If you have an interest in getting up close and seeing a Bison and several other animals this is a great tour. We did the walking tour and really enjoyable. I'd recommend it to anyone that has an interest in learning about the natural habitat from several thousand years ago. All the staff here are extremely friendly as well.

At €20 per person, it might be a bit expensive fpr some, but it's well worthwhile whether for kids or adults. I did the tour on foot which is preferable to the carthorse drawn circuit as you get closer to the animals. Along with wild boar here is a herd of European bison, Przewalski's wild horses and deer who come down to drink at the lake in the late afternoon. There is a bar and restaurant and accomodation if you wish to stay. I found our guide both well informed and communicative and always ready to answer questions. Set up by an ex of Botswanan Safari parks I would recommend a visit.

Séjour de 2 nuits en demi pension avec promenade en calèche et à pied, avec Mathéo 9 ans. Rien à redire tellement tout était parfait.Accueil chaleureux, hôtes attentionnés et à l'écoute. Comme en famille.Logement impeccable. Au calme, à 5 mètres des animaux de la réserve. On pouvait les voir de la fenêtre de notre chambre.Restaurant également parfait : repas copieux et variés, et toujours et encore un accueil hors du commun.Visites très pédagogiques pour les enfants ...et pour les grands et guide au top, elle aussi.Bref, vous l'aurez compris, nous nous sommes régalés et comptons bien revenir...Merci à Christine, André, Sabine, Cindy, Théo ... pour cet agréable séjour !

nous avons fait la ballade en calèche à 13h30. notre guide était très sympa et donne toutes les informations nécessaires.nos enfants étaient émerveillés (tout comme nous) de voir biches, cerfs,sangliers,bisons et chevaux si près de nous.je suis souvent passée devant en rêvant de faire cette promenade, c'est chose faite et aucun regret, encore mieux qu'espéré.même mon époux ,qui était plus mitigé à cause du coût pour 2 adultes et 2 enfants, en est sorti emerveillé.un seul regret, ne pas avoir les moyens de faire la nuit en écolodge en été

Dans le cadre d'un seminaire professionnel, notre direction a fait le choix de nous faire partager en saison hivernale, 1 nuit et 2 jours à la Reserve des Monts Azur.De chance, le soleil était aussi du séjour et avons profiter pleinement d'un trés joli temps, de magnifiques paysages, la nature, le grand air, et les animaux "sauvages" que vous pouvez approcher sans incidents.On y mange bien, au choix, champignons, viande de cerf, ou taureau, une cave de choix accompagnant ces delicieux et copieux repas réalisé par le chef de famille et maison.Un acceuil familial, et chaleureux vous attends. Le personnel "une famille formidable" saura vous accompagner et répondre à toutes vos demandes avec une trés grande sympathie. Vous vous sentirez trés rapidement à l'aise....De plus, des viste en caléche sur neige est au programme, un pic nic prés du lac au grand air est réalisable non loin des animaux, des marches enneigés sont réalidsable, des jeux d'orientation et autres activités sont à programmés, et vous occuperont dans un paysage preservé et magnifique.
