Drove here up a long and winding road the D22 from Nice. We are not nervous drivers but this was a very testing drive where luckily we met no oncoming traffic- THANK GOD. Once there it was a beautiful little town to visit. Totally picturesque and worth the climb up to the ruins to take in the view. BUT wear sensible footwear as very steep and treacherous climb. We left via the much easier route to Menton and although it was still theD22 this was MUCH easier to negotiate. You have been warned!

It was nice to see once but it's not terribly interesting if you're not into militaria. If you go during the Heritage week in September you should get free entry. Go for the wonderful views and to walk up to the castle (on an empty stomach) and then have lunch in the St.Yves for a great good value meal.

We were lucky to be given a guided tour by a wonderful French gentleman (aged 89?) who had been in the resistance, this added hugely to the experience. However even without that, seeing this large fortress carved out of the rock was fascinating, the views are fantastic too. A lot of original machinery and fittings are in place giving quite an insight to how the occupants lived.Worth a visit.

A nice - if narrow and winding drive - up to the fort and ruined castle. Views down into the valley are spectacular from the top of the old ramparts

Pour les passionnés d'histoire militaire, visite très intéressante et instructive, notre fils de 4 ans et demi à aimé la visite.Beau panorama et village magnifique.A recommander.

Nous avons fait le déplacement à Sainte Agnès pour retrouver les traces d’un fort où avait été, pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, le père de ma femme.Nous avons donc visité ce fort, très impressionnant et pu nous entretenir avec la personne qui accueille les visiteurs. Cette visite et cet entretien nous ont profondément marqués. Qu’il nous soit permis, une nouvelle fois, de remercier notre hôte.

Interessante viaggio nella storia recente e l'incredibile ingegneria bellica della seconda guerra mondiale. Interamente conservato consiglio la visita guidata. Da fare in famiglia.

Le fort militaire (1938), mais aussi les ruines du château fort (XIIe), témoignent de l'intérêt stratégique du site. Ne ratez pas le château fort de Sainte Agnes ! Le panorama est extraordinaire !

Ouvrage d'excellence, la ligne Maginot a été gâchée parce qu'utilisée à contre emploi par un trop vieux généralissime. Destiné à regrouper nos forces et puis de la à jaillir sus à l'ennemi, et à ce moment à le vaincre. Ce fort de sainte-Agnès a victorieusement tenu les Italiens en échec. A visiter impérativement, il est dans un superbe état, et pour un peu on se croirait en 1939. N'oubliez pas de lire ou relire vos notes sur le sujet et d'y consacrer au moins trois heures. Les photos sont autorisées .Indispensables pour l'édification des jeunes, incontournables pour les autres, vous passerez un fort bon moment
