Just back from a visit to this chateau and I would like to complement the young guides on their great tour, switching from English to French constantly and managing a group which included at least 15 children under 10 who did not speak French and some who did not speak English either. We then went to taste the wine in the chateaus cave and were treated to a personal tasting by the young sommelier. his English was also fine and his knowledge of the wines the chateau produced excellent. We learnt a lot and bought some very ice wine at very reasonable prices compared to elsewhere in this area. Recommended even just to taste the wine.

I visited July 2014 and was pleasantly surprised by the guided tour. In my past experiences in Burgundy guided tours in English were hard to come by and even harder to understand, but my guide at Couches had wonderful spoken English and gave plenty of anecdotal stories along the tour that added to the charm of the Chateau. I also participated in the wine tasting, it was a really great deal at only 4,50 euros, the wine guide was exceptionally friendly and the wine was great! I would highly recommend this chateau if you are going to be in the area.

While staying in Couches we didn't know what we might expect from the closest chateau to our location, but we were pleasantly surprised. The various towers, buildings and even underground passages were explained clearly by our guide, and were quite beautiful.

We visited "Le Chateau de Couches" on Sunday. It is beautiful castle and the tour guide was excellent and well documented. The welcome at the front desk was very pleasant. I would recommend it for pre-teenagers/teenagers who are old enough to understand French history from the Middle Ages until today. It is a interesting feeling to be in this castle and to know that from the wall of this beautiful castle, 800 years are looking at us.

It is a bit of a hike from St. Leger sur Dheune, but it is a must. Of all the Burgundy Chateaux' this was the one I enjoyed the most. Perhaps because it is so old, but it is in such a beautiful place and so incredible inside.Highy recommended.Very friendly staff!

It looks lovely from the outside, but that’s probably the best way to appreciate it. OK, the gardens have some amusing topiary and the inside of the church and the dungeon have some historic treasurers, but unless those are your consuming passion, it’s not particularly good value for the 7 Euros. You are only allowed inside the buildings as part of a guided tour – which takes over an hour. We visited mid-September, outside the main tourist season, and got a 2 Euro reduction because there was no English-speaking guide. When it’s busy, there is wine from the vines in the chateau grounds to taste and buy – but again you’ll probably get better value elsewhere.

"Absence de parking... heureusement que ma voiture n'a pas été emboutie sur la route... Mais ce n'est pas cela qui m'a le plus choquée... La propriétaire n'a pas dénié nous dire bonjour alors qu'elle passait à côté de nous et même pas un petit sourire ce qui me semble pourtant la base pour un site accueillant du public...Néanmoins la visite guidée était très intéressante avec des guides compétents, polyvalents et qui connaissent leur sujet."
