We were guests of the Baron de Champchevrier, his wife and daughter, for a most interesting tour of the Chateau and the calling of the hounds by red coated, brass horn, men, for their meal. We watched on the patio with champagne. The ceremony was followed by dinner in the Chateau and lots of casual dialogue between the guests (20) and the family. A very memorable evening and our thanks to the Baron and his family for their graciousness. Arrangements were made through Tauck Tours. I believe this lovely evening is available for special groups arranged in advance.

We arrived early in Langeais from Tours so needed to visit something after the Chateau in town. Saw the sign for this chateau. This is a famous hunting chateau with lots of dogs in the kennels. We arrived just in time for a tour which had the only two other peopl, the tour was in English. Because the owners live on site the rooms were still filled with artifacts, compared to others with a few items on display. It was well worth the visit.

I visited Champchevrier in August 2011 and I advice all visitors to the Loire valley to take their time and go and visit this hidden treasure that really merits to on the top 10 of things to visit in the Loire valley. A living castle where the current owners family still resides after 300 years. A pleasure to visit!

Visita muy recomendable. El castillo esta totalmente aislado de cualquier población. Se respira tranquilidad por los cuatro costados, estas rodeado de naturaleza y paz. A nosotros la visita guiada nos la hizo una chica que hablaba español bastante bien, lo cual es un punto a su favor. Nada que ver con las típicas guías, era una estudiante de historia y se notaba que le gustaba lo que hacia. La visita la hicimos solo 5 personas, con lo cual tuvimos ocasión de preguntar aquello que nos pareció interesante. Se visitan varias estancias, muy interesantes, pero yo destacaría la colección de tapices......... Es realmente espectacular. En resumen, una grata sorpresa.

Castello un pò fuori dalla zona classica, ma molto particolare. E' una residenza di caccia tutt'ora utilizzata dai proprietari. Hanno un allevamento di cani da caccia visitabile, molto grande.Quando ci siamo stati eravamo gli unici visitatori ed abbiamo potuto goderci il tour con calma accompagnati da una guida (che parlava anche un pò di inglese).

À l' arrivée on ne s' attend pas à la magnificence de l 'intérieur .Dommage qu'il ne soit "visitable " uniquement 2 mois de l 'année .

une visite qui s'impose dès que l'on reste plus de deux jours en Touraine. Cela permet d'avoir une idée plus précise de la manière dont vivait la noblesse car ce sont les descendants qui habitent toujours le château. Il est richement meublé, avec des tapisseries et des tableaux fantastiques. Les châteaux ayant souvent été détruits ou pillés, pendant la révolution, c'est passionnant.C'est également interessant d'avoir des renseignements très bien fournis sur la chasse à courre. Et vous aurez peut être l'occasion d'avoir la visite guidée faite par le propriétaire !
