Great if you want to know more about the history of comics. Well presented ask for an english audio guide.

Well worth visiting - although it must be said that the museum and the interior and the design of the exhibition are more impressive and entertaining than the contents themselves. It is simply an amusing and enjoyable place to be. Some of the contents, though, are only of interest to the real comic strip fan, that said, there is plenty to interest the casual visitor/general public..

My partner is a keen fan of Asterix and other comics and we thought this would be an interesting visit. There are plenty of original comics on display and a new exhibit - Nocturne - which was an interesting take on dreams and animations to go with the interpretations.I wouldn't say this would be a place that would hold much interest for children and young adults as it really is more like a display of the history of comics. There is a large comic store inside albeit all comics are in French naturally so not much in the way for English speakers to purchase.A couple of hours at most and you would have seen all that there is to see.

Took our kids there on a rainy day snf it turned out as a great day. Finding parking close by can be a problem though. Make sure to walk around the town. We met some realky lovely natives and restaurant staff were great.

I would not have been here except that my Grand daughter who was here on holiday wanted to visit it. I am delighted she did as I found it fascinating and well worth visiting. The displays were arranged in a way which made it very easy to progress from one artist and style to the next giving one a progressive overall picture of the development of this genre.

A good way to trace the history of the cartoon art form from the start of the 20th c. to the present day. Whilst we were visiting we were lucky enough to see Edmond Baudoin giving a talk about his work including his recent publication (his work is based on the life of Salvador Dali) "Dali". He has an annexe in the musee de BD devoted to his work. There is also a contemporary gallery which reflects the interest that this art form still retains amongst less well established artists and cartoonists.

The inside and outside of the building are both beautiful. The layout of the inside is cosy, There are many comics in many different languages and from different eras.

The interior is beautifully arranged, it's a pleasure to sit on a couch and read comics. They have a very vast collection of comic books, most of them French, but you will be amazed by the talent and creativity of the artists who drew all those immaginary characters and brought them to life in every visitor's (or fan for that matter) mind. Student entrance fee is 4€, regardless of your nationality.

clicked too fast! I have visited the International Exhibition of the Bande Dessinée, long time ago, not the Musée yet, but I have seen the building : very interesting architecture.

Given that Angouleme has established itself as one of the leading animation and digital art centers in France it should be no surprise that the regional government created a museum and archive for this incredible medium. Le Musee de la Bande Dessinee which is literally the words for banded strips - is a modern and moving display of comic strips, comic books, posters and graphic novels that spans more than 200 years. Through October of this year an exhibition and retrospective curated by the famous artist Art Spiegelman takes the main stage. For older fans, one can easily spend a couple of hours, for casual fans - an hour may be enough. The facility is a short walk from the centre of the city or train station. A great book store is also included. Admission is about $10 USD. Free lockers are available as well so you don't have to schlep stuff around.
