The Château d'Anjony is a castle in the villiage of Tournemire in the Cantal département of the Auvergne in central France. It was built from basalt the around 1430 by Louis d'Anjony, one of the companions of Jeanne d'Arc. Behind the the stern and imposing exterior of this monument historique is a richly furnished interior, with tapestries, frescoes dating from around the 16th century and other objets d'art from the Renaissance.The village of Tournemire - one of the plus beaux villages en France - is incredibly picturesque.

A visit to the Chateau d'Anjony was recommended by the owner of our B&B and it was well worth while. The castle in its rocky setting above a valley is still impressive and must have given an element of confidence to the villagers living there in the middle ages. I regret to say that, in those days, it was us Brits making life difficult for them. I note that a couple of French reviewers felt that the guide made unnecessary anti English jokes and comments, but I just entered into the spirit of his talk and pleaded guilty to each charge as it was made. I rate the guided tour as very good.Unlike properties that suffer from the dead hand of institutional ownership or which have been bought empty and refurnished by rich "incomers", this fine old castle is still owned by a family who have been there for centuries and who live there to this day. Our knowledgeable guide explained how the building has been adapted by them and the context of much of the furniture.The price of entry is reasonable and the interesting church you will pass on your way is well worth a detour.A word of warning: it is long walk from the car park through the village to the castle, but I guess disabled visitors must be able to get closer in a vehicle. Sadly the building itself is only really accessible to the able bodied.

Parking gratuit à l'entrée du village permettant de se promener dans ce village pittoresque et d'admirer la vue du château. Château privé très bien conservé. Nous avons fait la visite avec un guide d'un certain âge, juste EXCEPTIONNEL ! Passionné et passionnant, très cultivé ayant beaucoup d'humour, il a fait vivre ce château, ses pièces et son mobilier avec une énergie impressionnante. Le prix justifiait largement la prestation, un vrai régal.

Contrairement à certains avis négatifs concernant le guide, certes bavard, mais très enrichissant et surtout passionné et passionnant. La visite guidée nous fait "explorer " les étages d'une tour jusque sous les charpentes. La vue de la campagne environnante est superbe. L'éternel problème des interdictions de photographier est frustrant limite ridicule car sans raison vraiment valable,surtout pour les photographes qui désirent faire "leur" cliché. (le coup des voleurs etc... ça ne passe pas )En basse saison il est facile de se garer non loin du château et le sentier qui nous y conduit est très agréable.Bonne visite au prix justifié. L'ascension tout en haut de la tour demande une bonne mobilité toutefois.

Obligation de se joindre à une visite guidée et tarif relativement élevé : nous n'avons admiré le château que de l'extérieur.En suivant les flèches visite vous pouvez descendre jusqu'au pied des murailles. Perspective impressionnante qui vaut le coup d'oeil !

D'une couleur sombre, ce château cachait beaucoup de choses ! Un intérieur magnifique, surprenant et une histoire intéressante expliquée par un jeune guide. Cependant, c'est dommage que l'on ne puisse pas prendre de photos de ces belles pièces !

7,50euro tarif adulte + parking payant (1euro) cest pas donné. Mais tournemir est un village agreable. Le chateau est tres bien entretenu, la visite interressante mais quand meme assez cher pour ce que cest.

accés un peu diffile et une fois arriver sur site visite payante 7.50€/ personne chateau sans trop d'exception

surprenant et un peu angoissant ce donjon qui surplombe à 40m de hauteurvisite intéressante, parfois difficile d'entendre ce que dit le guide avec les parquets qui craquent, mais on apprend pas mal de chosesà voir!
