A few steps from the Emonec hotel is the Preseren square. Nice to be there at night.Open air bars, with cheaps drinks, food stalls with hamburgers and, on that very Saturday night: live music. (Saturday Jan 3rd)On request: popular songs in Slovenian language. I asked for John Denver. Answer from the band: "an American tourist from Colorado..." (I am Belgian)...Close your eyes: do you see me dancing with the young ones, just on the square along the river. Unforgettable, that is what the square is.(visit also the pink church, and cross the bridges!!!)For your information: the city and the square are very safe. And the square is really worth a visit, also at daytime...some magic in the air. Yessssssssssssss.

If you're first time visiting Ljubljana, you will not be able to pass it by. Its a statue of our biggest poet (he wrote lyrics for our national anthem) and its in the heart of the city centre - near three bridges. From there you have 5-10 minutes to go to bars, restaurants, pubs, clubs, Metelkova, posh clubs scene, you name it :)

The Preseren Square is located directly in the centre of Ljubljana. It is named after the greatest Slovenian poet (one of his poems actually represents the lyrics of the national antheme of Slovenia). There the old town starts, you can spot the Ljubljana castle from here and look at some bridges over Ljubljanica river. This is striclty pedestrian zone, so that is also a plus, not to mention all the small caffes and restaurants where you can sit and enjoy the city.

Prominent statue of Slovenia's greatest poet besides Trmostovje bridge marks one of the most memorable places in Ljubljana. Give it a try and visit surrounding coffee shops.
