A must to see, especially from the outside. It looks like a fairy tale castle. Inside it's interresting but a bit empty. However, I, my wife and my daughters we really enjoyed it. A real plus : the Postjama caves are very near by. So don't hesitate !

Štanjel is a medieval village, situated on a hill in the south western Slovenia. It is a tranquil place because only a few inhabitants still live in the village. Visitors can admire the arhitecture and a wonderful garden. There is also an interesting art gallery. Worth visiting!

One of the beautiful places to see in Istra, Slovenia. Stanjel castle stands proud on top of a hill surrounded by houses, an old town. Walking through the narrow streets, looking at the old houses makes you hear the echoes of the ancients and yet seeing the flowers bloom in the gardens and on window stills grounds you into the present and living. A quiet and peaceful day trip, walking around the gardens beneath the castle, just beautiful.

Štanjel is a ver scenic village with a castle on top. The castle is beautiful and during the summer there are often concerts. Stanjel castle is a great wedding destination - the pictures are amazing :)The village itself is picturesque, in an old Karst style, all in stone.

We were there for half a day. All the people really did their best so we can understand them. It has really interesting history and the view was spectacular.

This lovely town is intriguing and full of mystery. The castle and surrounding town was raised to the ground in 1944, and the local people terrorised. Why did this happen?If your a 'light on' tourist who wants to be passive and entertained, then you wont find it at Stanjel. If you love history and and particularly interested in the world wars, this place is worth a visit. Also, the countryside is beautiful and a short drive to the Lipica stud farm. Read up before you go. I'm going back this summer!!

Il posto e' delizioso, merita una piccola sosta per una passeggiata tranquilla e rilassata Un must da visitare sono i giardini.

Schönes altes Dorf. Man ist hier bemüht alles wieder aufzubauen (was sicherlich noch einige Jahre dauern wird) Was etwas störte ist, das die Straßen gerade frisch geteert wurden. Das passt einfach an so einen Ort nicht. Hervorzuheben ist die herrliche Landschaft und der super Ausblick.

Abitando a Trieste vado spesso a S. Daniele perchè si passa una mattinata piacevole , prima sul sentiero che costeggia l'intero borgo con una bellissima vista sulla valle del Vipacco, poi lungo le stradine ed i torrioni, per finire sopra la bellissima fontana ed il giardino. Ogni volta trovo qualche nuova ristrutturazione o qualche nuova mostra: Studiando prima tutta la lunga storia di questo borgo, si gode di ogni pezzetto del luogo. Io ci porto sempre amici che vengono da altre parti d'Italia che hanno molto apprezzato anche le enoteche e la buona cucina. Con qualche chilometro in più potete arrivare fino in fonodo alla valle del Vipacco e visitare il paese ( Vipava ) che è un'altra meraviglia con laghetti, ponti e un antico palazzo.
