Entrance fee is rather expensive for Slovak standards and they don't heat the castle up in winter, we were freezing, outside was -10°C, inside maybe -2°C! It would be nice if you instead of the freaking security camera system that violates your privacy on every step they invested in freaking heating in winter! Plus, they will prohibit you from taking any form of record of the castle interior and the interior is rather poor compared to other castles in other parts of central Europe(like Czech republic or Austria, or even in another part of Slovakia). Visit Bojnice castle or go to Prague to visit Karlštejn castle, don't waste your time and money here. Plus, there is no view of the countryside from the castle or they won't allow you to go to places where could be a nice view.

Quite well preserved medieval castle, which was playing important role in history of Slovakia. Castle is located in a close vicinity of Bratislava, just one hour drive from the centre of Bratislava. Castle went through extensive reconstruction. We visited also cellars which are really huge. You must be there and see and feel the space to realize the size properly. I am not sure if there are simarly sized medieval underground storages and cellars in the world. It is also very interesting to see the system of ventilation for smoke from mortars and cannons and other medieval defense systems. Our guide was fluent in English as well as she knew the very well the castle's history and stories linked to it. Visit of underground and the main castle takes slightly less than 3 hours together - you need to plan visit for the whole afternoon if you do not want be under time pressure. It was very educational and I recommend to visit castle Cerveny Kamen.

This castle is one of the best equiped castles in Slovakia. It is newly renovated and you can see plenty of historical furniture and paintings. The guide was very good and gave us lot of interesting informations.

One of the best castles we saw on our tour of Eastern Europe. Only an hour from Bratislava and well worth the trip. The castle has large well maintained grounds. Inside there are a lot of rooms with well preserved antiques and one of the best displays of armaments we saw on our trip. It is a great display of life in the middle ages.

Historical Festival, the 26. - 27. of May 2012 on the Redstone Castle was a pure delight. Pure atmosphere of Middle Age. I will return with my family for sure.

We were with a non-English tour when we went through this castle, but we were given a pamphlet in English that explained a good bit of the tour. Obviously, the paper did not explain everything, but enough for us to understand a great deal. There are huge wine cellars in the castle, and many of the rooms are decorated to period. We were told that no photography was permitted unless you paid for a special permit, but the group was taking photos without having paid and the guide did not question them. This is a lovely castle, and worth touring if you are in this area.

A stone castle was built in the 13th century as part of the chain of country frontier defense castles ranging from Bratislava to Žilina. This castle was completely rebuilt as a fortress in the first half of the 16th century. When the Pálffy family acquired the castle in 1588, the fortress was completed, and it became a representative noble castle.Although the castle was damaged several times by fire, it was always reconstructed by the Pálffys, who were the owners of the castle until the Second World War. Today, the castle is a museum.
