I have spent 23 years of my life in Kosice and the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth is a well-known sight for me. After many years hidden behind the scaffoldings it has been finally unveiled and restored to its former glory. The outside of the cathedral looks great, especially when lighted at night.Unfortunately, same can't be said about the interior. Something like concrete has been slathered onto huge pillars near the entrance and it looks like a work of amateur. Our friends to whom we've shown it were shocked by such crude restoration works. It's pity because the cathedral is majestic and beautiful.

Quite scary and I think 3 euros per person but it was fun to get on the top it. Ring the bell if you dare (not don't) No heath and safety like in UK, so is even more fun. Beautiful views of Kosice from the top so definitely worth climbing up!

We (a couple) happened to have a look at this Cathedral during two very different days that made 3 dimensional impression of this Cathedral. One day was sunny and gave impression of the Cathedral that is ready to launch towards the sun. However, the second day had nothing from the previous day. It was snowy, windy and very cold. As a result, the Cathedral also gave as an impression of a place that was captured by dark magic. The woman, who was in charge of the bell tower, told us to be very careful on the way up while waiting for a group in front of us to return. After 15 minutes, it was our turn to climb there. It was quite tight on the stairs but the worst part came later at the very top, when almost hurricane wind full of coldness and snow pressed us towards the fence. If not this fence, we would fall from the tower. We tried to make a selfie but failed because camera was flying away even that we were holding it with our hands. It was really one of the scariest moments in our life! But at the end of the day, it became the most valuable memory from our visit to Kosice. So don't be offended that we wish you to experience some dark magic as well!

Though Kosice is far away from Bratislava, people often go there to watch musical fountains, to the local theater and, of course, to admire Dom svataj Alzbety or St. Elizabeth's Cathedral, which is located in the very heart of th city. Dating back to the 13th century, having survived many calamities and reconstructions it is still impressive and magnificent reminding us that Ars longa, vita brevis est.

This cathedral has an impressive history, looks incredible and neighbours a singing fountain to enjoy the view. From time to time there is an impressive light show. There should be no more gothic constructions to the East.

To visit this Cathedral is a must when you are staying in Kosice. The Cathedral is situated in the heart of the historical center of Kosice city. Cathedral was built in the High Gothic style between 1378 and 1508 in several stages. There are many legends about the Cathedral. It is said, that inside the Cathedral, there is a stone which if pressed can cause the collapse of entire building. There is also a legend about the Master Carpenter Stefan whose wife was an alcoholic and to ridicule her and show her how she looks drunk, the carpenter made one of the gargoyles to look like her. After seeing the gargoyle during the rain, his wife came to realize how vicious and ugly alcohol made her and she promised to never drink again. You can look for the gargoyle while standing in front of the Matthias tower of the Cathedral. Inside of Cathedral, there is a lantern of King Matthias. It was believed that every criminal who could fit inside the lantern was supposed to be freed because the lantern had magic powers. The architecture also has its perks. There is the Lovers staircase - the staircase made in a manner that if two persons are climbing the stairs from two different sides, they will always meet in the middle so they can exchange the kiss. And let s not forget the Zigmund tower which is opened for public. You can climb up and enjoy the view of Kosice.
