Great hidden gem near downtown. Would like to post a review once it is...

Czechs love Americans and love Patton for the American role in liberating the Czech Republic (until FDR gave away eastern Europe). If you liked Patton or the movie, go here.

This museum is small but well maintained and gives a good history of the US Army and its connection with Pilzen. I enjoyed my time there and learned a few things in the meantime. You can probably see the whole display in 45-60 minutes but I would definitely say add this to your trip to Pilzen.

Recommend reading the panels and see how the fanaticism made it nearly impossible for any Germans to express their consciences for fear of execution and locals could not resist without fear of execution. Read the panel that shows US killed and wounded on the route to freeing Plzen, that was incredible sacrifice worth remembering. USSR's occupation and subsequent media and education manipulation worth awareness. Too bad USA scuttled Patton who saw one fascist defeated to be replaced by another who was even worse.

Patton is the American general who had most sucsess in the Allied liberation of occupied territory during WWII. The museum in his name is though 90 per cent local war history and 10 per cent Patton slash overall war history. Still it is quite fascinating. The compact exhibition contains numerous artifacts, mainly American trooper equipment. Lot's of images from the liberation of Plzen, and also a cold war section about the incredible fairytales communists made about the liberators after the war.

A lot to see all in Czech. Nice displays from ww2. Staff nice. Movies good no sound! Hard to find parking.

This is a neat spot full of us history. I really enjoyed looking through this museum. It has a lot of history in it even though it is very small. It's worth a look.

I'm a WWII fan and I especially George Patton. We just returned from Pilsen and made it point to take in this museum. The museum is small and has only three exhibits that were specially about Patton.1. A bust of Patton.2. A picture of Patton3. A display of his 4 start helmet and ribbons. The rest of the museum displayed uniforms and other items for WWII. If you've been to any other museums dictated to WWII, don't make any effort to see this one.

This small museum is worthwhile visiting if you are interested in the history of the Czech Republic at the end of WWII. The communists denied the liberation of Plzen by the Americans. A "fine" example how history was rewritten by them. This exhibition does justice to the role the US Army played in the liberation.

As soon as I started reading first information panel, I could not stopped. I red every text the museum had to offer and was really glad I did. The stories of different cities and people were really fascinating and moving, I even had a hard time holding tears few times. The museum is really small in comparison to others, but I think it is even its advantage, because you have time to absord it all.

My family really enjoyed visiting the museum. The worker was super friendly to us and answered many questions. My boys enjoyed looking at all the pictures and everything in the cases. It was a nice tribute and educational.
