The mining museum offers an interesting insight in the mining industry that once dominated Ostrava. Guided tour to the mine, including live demo of working mining equipment. Lots of interesting artifacts. The museum itself focuses a lot on security, displaying an old ambulance and various resque equipment. Recommended sight in Ostrava.

We were a group of 12 people and they offered a guide that speaks good English. Overall the experience is really cool, as you get to see the mine itself closely. Do visit the restaurant on site of Landek, they have really good meal too.

This one is great! We loved the personnel, so inviting, so nice and charmi. They are former employees, having special realtionship to the place and history. One can feel the love they still have to the place, to their job.... Perfect expositions, one can touch everything, try end experience the real job of teh miner. Nice place, very clean, well equiped and full information cover. A nice and cheep restaurant in the area. Toilets a bit worse, but working.

Had a chance to visit this place on Sunday Nov 02. Only working attraction was the coal mining museum. Everything else was closed. Sad place even the weather was wonderful. Anyway good opportunity to make a nice hike in Landek forest that spans at the hill above the museum.

This place is one of the a-must-see in Ostrava if you are interested in industrial architecture and tourism. Other places to visit are Michal coal mine and Dolní oblast Vítkovice. History of coal-mining will be shown you by the experts, ex-workers of ostrava's coal mines. There's also big and interesting exhibition of mine rescue service. Outside you could see wide range of coal-mining mechanisms. There's a path leading to small wooden viewing-tower on the top of the Landek hill and lot of possibilities for cycling.

Quite impressive place to see, even you aren't fan of mining. The exposition of real conditions and mining area is just a place you'll remember.

Very interesting open air museum focused on black coal mining. The Landek Hill itself is connected with cavemans and early settlement. Good for whole family, if the weather is good. The surrounding area is good for cycling.

The Landek Park is a large sprawling complex that has a museum that goes into the lives of rescue workers and what it was like to be a miner. You do actually get to go into a part of defunct mine and see real equipment that was used. These tours give you a greater feel and respect for what miners have had to endure over the years. Wheelchair access to most parts of this complex is not possible or very difficult at the best. You can reach it by car, but you will park outside of the complex and then have to walk to the different areas. There is also a lookout tower which you can climb and enjoy the view. Expect to spend at least three hours here since the two guided tours about rescue workers and the mine itself take one hour each. Anyone planning to visit Ostrava should consider adding this to their itinerary, since mining has been a big part of its history. Tours can be conducted in English as I understand, even though we took the Czech versions.
