As in many European cities, old shipyards and storehouses are converted into modern living, shopping and dining spaces. This is one of them on a perfect location, probably the best location in Oslo. It is in the very center, close to the City hall and across of the medieval Akerhus Castle. It was very nice to walk the area by the seafront.We went for a dinner there, as there are many restaurants along the way. They are on a pricey side, but the setting is fabulous, sitting outdoor with gas heat, with views over the Bay, with lit up Castle and City hall.

Never mind the shops, restaurants etc, go there for the beauty of the place, walk on the promenade, the small bridges, relax on the benches, enjoy the harbour, the sailing ships. The buildings are so beautiful and different from one another. Give yourself a whole lazy afternoon.

In itself is a lovely place that oozes the high standard of living enjoyed by Norwegians. Just strolling or people watching, it is not to be missed. It is central and within walking distance of most of the major attractions such as the City Hall, the Nobel peace building and the Royal Palace and gardens. All in all, most enjoyable.

Beautiful on a sunny day - great place to walk and have an ice cream. Don't miss the swim park and sculpture garden at the end.
