Centrally located in downtown Trondheim you can find the fairly ok priced beef&burger-restaurant Mikrobryggeriet. The food was ok+. The beer varies in a way that they might have completely different beer-menus from one week to the next. We just got to taste 2 different ales, both very nice. Recommended, botth for couples, friends and "boys' evening out"!

We just found it by almost a mistake by taking a walk in Trondheim during a long weekend breakaway. And we loved it... if you are into beers and burgers, this is the place... good service. great beers with their own twist... amazing burgers... nice ambient..

Let's first talk about the beer. I have been in the brewing business since 1980s, mostly in microbrewing. Norway is experiencing it's own microbrewery expansions and I notice that a lot of focus is on exaggerated versions of accepted styles. For instance, the San Francisco Pale Ale here is actually an IPA. The IPA more of a double IPA. They describe their brown ale as a "traditional European" brown ale. Huh? Did they mean UK? In any case, they should not have used American hops which have a very distinct flavor and aroma. Etc. Sadly, the brewmaster was on holiday when I visited so I could not ask him about this. Having said that, some of the beers were excellent with the "Oat Stout" being one of the best. However, I hope you are not in a hurry for that one as it took more than 20 minutes for a small snifter to be filled. I'm going to blame that on the brewer being on vacation and the rest of the staff not knowing how to deal with nitrogen pours.Speaking of staff, the bar staff really could not have been much more disinterested. Service was awful. I was there on a week night and there were only 3 other tables with customers. Perhaps no one wanted to interact with the old guy with the poor pronunciation taking notes and photos. But typically I don't have that problem in other restaurants even when my Norwegian language skills run out. The burgers and fries on the menu were nowhere near American flavors. They put freakin' corn relish on the burger.... And the fries are very dark brown and mushy. I'm not sure why. They didn't taste very good.

A local pub with local beer. Like the name says they brew their own beer which is quite good. They have a decent selection of beers to choose from, from dark strong beers to light beers.I've been here with my friend and the atmosphere was good. They also serve snacks in form of burgers and similar stuff. I had a burger which was ok, but not really great.I was told that during the summer semester pub gets quite crowded but it is not so afterwards. Still if you come in a bit later it will be hard for you to get a table.As I was told it is typical in Norway pubs to order drinks and snacks at the bar and pay immediately. It is good practice as long as you don't loose the table due to this practise (that's what's happened to me and my friend). Let someone stay at the table while you are getting the next round.

This is one of several pubs in Trondheim serving a locally brewed beer. The beer is great, the food is good, and the atmosphere is nice but hectic.

Try the IPA!!! They are famous for their beer- the food is OK - but the locals go there for the beer.

As soon as I walked in, I smelled burger and fries. The place is very American in it's decor and food options. We just had the house beers which were ok, but I'm accustomed to more challenging craft beers. My friend from Trondheim drinks even more complex beer than myself, but he appreciates the simplicity and balance of the beers. You can get a sampler of all of their beers. I was given tastes and settled on the amber. It was fine. The service was efficient and friendly. This would be a great place for a large group.

Great beer, especially the IPA (Indian Pale Ale) and Stout. The barkeepers used to be friendlier, though.

A really nice place to drink some beer, especially the 8 types trial. It cost NOR 140 for 100ml of 8 kind of beer, including two seasonal ones.
