Interesting museum offering an insight in the living conditions of a middle class 1903 family. The apartment is restored to it's original 1903 condition and furnished accordingly. I miss a wider introduction the the art noveau (jugend), and also I think the museum could offer a wider range of exterior samples too. Museum has a small 'cinema' showing a video film, but this was not working, so there is a chance some of my questions would be answered if I had the chance to view the video.

Strange fat lady sculpture outside that looked like the Michellan Man. This is a large Red brick building which doesn't look like a museum at all. Didn't go inside but went to look at some of the houses nearby that are worth a look.

I think it is mediocre museum. You'd rather go to the fifth floor to visit artist's house. That one is cheaper and you will be accompanying by a guide (university student).

I should have realised by now that Art like this isn't really my cup of tea. It was ok having a look round for three euros and the video at the end gave a bit of an insight into Riga, a bit of history and some information on the architecture which was interesting but the museum itself didn't really interest my girlfriend or I. Although if you're interested in art and architecture then I would say it would probably be well worth a visit. To end on a positive, the staff were very friendly and helpful, as we have found with all of the people that we have dealt with in Riga.

Advertising yourself doesn't seem to be the done thing in riga. We put in all the effort to find this place, they put an A-frame up pointing so it can't be seen from the road. Entrance hall is dark and dingy - not welcoming at all. The museum itself it ok,there has obviously been a lot of time and effort in creating these rooms to look at but sadly you can be done in 10 min as only little. Well worth watching the short video on the art nouveau influence on the city - best bit!

It took some time to find the museum and, even when we found it, we were told at first that it was closed? We were then let in and found that there were other visitors there, so very confusing. Definitely worth a visit. Staff were very knowledgeable and all dressed for the period. Some interesting furniture and artifacts - like a trip back in time.

I am a real Art Deco / Art Nouveau buff and was really looking forward to visiting this museum. It's basically someone's apartment and the look of the rooms has been restored. Well ... what can I say I honestly expected more. The decor is rather shabby (I know, I know - it's authentic and all, but it just seemed a bit dingy). The staff dresses up, which was both nice and extremely weird. I don't know ... The visit is over in 15 minutes tops, and that's with pictures ... It's not an absolute must in Riga - you'd be better off spending time at the Arts and Crafts Museum, which really blew me away.

We arrived an hour before it was due to close and they turned the lights off as we started to walk up the stairs. Unfortunately can't comment more as didn't get to see anything other than a quite magnificent staircase.

Think the staff enjoy people dressing up as they do I walked around with a huge top hat on like a Victorian bumble bee bumbling through the rooms that have travelled back in time,Overall a really nice experience also take the time to walk down the road and take in the areas lovely architecture .

Really great museum, you can dress in antiq costumes and see how rich people were living in that time. Only the tour was to short and tickets is too expensive for that!
