The collection of pottery and other artifacts is quite amazing. If you are really in to the history you need to give yourself time to absorb.

First, I want to make you aware of a little "scam". The guidebooks I had read indicated that your paid admission to the Valley of the Temples also included a visit to the Archaeology Museum. That is no longer the case, and we were not told of the ticket options. At the time you purchase your tickets (10 Euro for the Valley of the temples), you have the option for an addition 3.50 Euro of purchasing the Museum admission. If you don't buy it then, the museum is an extra 8 Euro admission. It's still a great museum, and worth seeing, but don't let yourself get ripped off.

If 2500 year-old pottery is your thing, this is your place. Lovely pots, large, small, and huge are displayed. Painted scenes depict life of our race 2500 years ago. Also some jewelry, sculptures, and burial vaults. Best, most interesting, item is the actual colossus from the Temple of Zeus. Only a copy is seen at the temple site.Easy parking and reasonable fee for entry.Happy trails...

The museum is outstanding: it has so many precious artefacts, among which is a telamon (giant statue) of Zeus, from the site of the Temples themselves, and of which only copies are left onsite, but the original is here in the museum. Housed here are many other historical findings from throughout the Agrigento province and beyond: smaller statues of deities, ceramics, sarcophagi, some bigger statues as well, coins. It is one of the most comprehensive archaeological museums in Sicily. There are some additional points of interest right outside it, since it was built in an area not far from the Temples (there are frequent buses in between these 2 places, but it's not far even to walk the distance), with lots of ancient Greek buildings and ruins, such as the Agora, and also constructions from more recent times, such as the Church of St. Nicholas, from 11-12th century, still in use today. It is highly recommended to visit.

Beautiful museum. Not specifically creative displays, but the contents more than made up for the traditional designs. Each area was well organized and the museum kept me entertained for several hours. Well worth a visit.

While waling around the big walls in the valley, the museum shows the other true gems of this place that need protection.

Exquisite finds in great condition for the most part. Highlights include the Ephebus of Agrigento, the Greek warrior, attic vases, the dinos, the Telamon giant from the temple of Zeus and much more.

Incredible collection of Vases, pots and figurines from pre Greek times thru the Greek settlements time frame. Photos of the Valley over the years accompanied by info and pictures along side the actual artifacts found at the site. Air conditioned. We found it difficult to find the parking. The entrance is a narrow rutted dirt lane. Difficult to see if you are going downhill on the main road. Coming up the hill it is on the left.

A large and fascinating collection of finds from the Valley of the Temples - must be one of the best collections of Greek artefacts outside of Greece.
