Arriving at a new Italian town like Vercelli is always a nice surprise with charming architecture and others to see and enjoy.The church is a typical example of basilical construction, a harmonic composition of roman and gothic style.The puritane interrior allows clear study of the architecture. Stone dominates the inside, the outside is gor bricks.Walking around the chiesa and the parocchia is worth to enjoy and adore also the honourably great ancient trees, such as an appr. 250 years old cedar, neighbouring a 30 metres tall sequoia, magnolias and others.

Well, actually its just like another Basilica which you may have seen in Italy or other countries.It has a great architecture; Worth to visit at least once.

Having read the first guide which was negative I feel I have to back up the comments made most of the Vercellese about their wonderful basilica. The first time I came to Vercelli, in 1996, I was stunned by its graceful architecture . I love the arcades in the adjoining cloisters and the red brick of the structure. Although the interior is empty in comparison with British churches, it is possible to appreciate it even more without any distraction. I like the large painted wooden statue of the Madonna standing in an alcove to the right of the altar; she has been there at least since the 17th century.Every time I go through Vercelli by train, I always look out of the window to have a glimpse of Sant' Andrea. It has to be visited to be really appreciated, however.

Sinceramente per me è stata una vera sorpresa in quanto non ne avevo mai sentito parlare... Bellissima la facciata con bassorilievi in parte attributi a Benedetto Antelami e suggestiva la vista laterale con i poderosi contrafforti e il particolare tiburio.Dal chiostro si ha un altro punto di vista interessante.Ma la cosa secondo me più stupefacente è pensare che questo splendore sia stato costruito in soli 8 anni!!Da non perdere per chi è in zona e per gli appassionati del gotico.

Rappresenta Vercelli...la storia! Raro esempio in cui il gotico e il romanico si fondono con particolare eleganza. A pochi passi il salone duecentesco... Quattro passi in un'epoca tra i ricordi di Dante Alighieri !

La basilica di Sant'Andrea di Vercelli è uno dei tanti tesori dell'arte italiana poco conosciuti.Il monumento avrebbe bisogno di un restauro, ma comunque, la struttura è veramente splendida e non trascurate di ammirare la lunetta centrale attribuita all'Antelami.Non dimenticate inoltre di guardare alla vostra sinistra (dando di spalle alla facciata della basilica), il Palazzo Dugentesco.

Un monumento di grande fascino, merità sicuramente una visita. Sicuramente un "must" per tutti gli appassionati d'arte. Il complesso ha un fascino particolare, e anche gli interni hanno l'atmosfera del tempo passato.

Veramente unica dal punto di vista architettonico si nota, in totale armonia, il mescolamento dello stile romanico con quello gotico. Purtroppo è un bene che appartiene al comune e necessita di un restauro (che a mio parere non sembra immediato). Il parroco, gentilissimo, è un'ottima guida per spiegare le bellezze di quella chiesa.

Imponente la Basilica di Vercelli! Sorprende la sua maestosità, nascosta dagli alberi che la circondano. Dalla facciata in pietra scura, dalle altre parti in rosso mattone e bianco intonaco. Si trovano parti ancora romaniche mentre svetta il Gotico che ricorda le cattedrali del nord della Francia. Imponente anche l'interno e molto bello il chiostro. Notevoli i portali. Merita il viaggio.
