Beautiful ancient castle with absolutely stunning frescos. The audio tour, available in English, cleverly described the characters of the castle's storied past. The castle's chapel is also amazing. Highly recommend!

the castle isn't that much from the outside but the the rooms with their frescoes are worth a visit. Superbe the " Dame and Cavalieri" room

This castle doesn't look like much from the outside. It's actually rather small but has some real treasures. When buying tickets, I bought an extra ticket that allowed me to take photographs (that's a first!), but it was well worth it. You get a headset with audiotour (in English!) that works very smart. Every time you visit a new part of the castle, the accompanying story on your head unfolds. A couple of rooms with beautiful frescos on the ceilings, not much furniture and stuff, but two main attractions that make your heart skip a beat. The first is a room called the Baronial Hall, where all the walls have frescos. Two sides have nine heroes and nine heroines on them, pagans, jews and christians... In full standing position, seperated from each other by trees and (family) shields. Each one has an ancient French verse under them that sing their praises and enumerate their accomplishments. The other two walls have three full tableaus of the myth of the Fountain of Youth. Very detailed. There are benches to sit on. Just sit and watch in awe. The other attraction is just outside the castle: the church of Santa Maria al Castllo. There you have another incredible painted wall/ceiling with (of course) religious tableaus from the Passion. Take your time to absorb it all!!

Rimarcabile costruzione del XII secolo che nel corso dei secoli ha passato più fase sino a raggiungere la struttura attuale. Da vedere oltre al giardino gli affreschi notevoli. Consiglio la visita in primavera. Consiglio di parcheggiare auto in piazza del municipio, salire le scale a sinistra delle scuole e prendere la stradina a sinistra, passare sotto l'arco di San Giorgio, passare di fianco alla Torre dei rovi ed entrare nel giardino del castello. Nei mesi invernali il castello è chiuso.A Manta notevole anche Santa Maria del Monastero del XI secolo!

un castello riportato in vita grazie al contributo del fai. LA SALA DEGLI AFFRESCHI E' MOLTO BELLA ; ma anche la posizione con il suo giardino sono da scoprire; cercate se possibile di andarci in primavera.

Ce magnifique château italien domine toute la plaine du Pô. L'architecture, le parc, sont de qualité mais incomparables avec la richesse intérieure de l'édifice. Vous y découvrirez en effet d'exceptionnelles fresques murales dans un état irréparable. La décoration permet d'avoir l'impression de déambuler dans ces pièces à l'époque des chevaliers. Un sympathique jeu de piste enjouera vos enfants.

Il castello della Manta era la meta principale del giro che ho fatto di recente nella zona di Saluzzo e in particolare volevo vedere i suoi affreschi gotici. Anche il resto del castello è interessante, dalle cantine alla cucina con pozzo interno alle sale con decorazione più recente che si trovano al piano inferiore, dalla Madonna che allatta agli appartamenti ma quello che è incredibile è il famoso salone baronale con i bellissimi affreschi gotici. Su un lato una serie di eroi ed eroine con didascalie in francese arcaico che li descrivono (alcuni storici come Alessandro Magno e Cesare, altri mitologici come le regine delle Amazzoni). Tutti armati e indossanti armature gotiche sotto ad abiti di corte. Si dovrebbe spendere mezza giornata solo a leggere le didascalie e ad ammirare i dettagli. Sull’altra parete la Fonte della Giovinezza. Altro elemento comune del periodo con i vecchi che corrono alla fonte: re e regine su un carro, prelati a cavallo, gente a piedi. Al centro la fonte con scene vagamente erotiche dei ringiovaniti che poi escono dalla fonte. All’estremità scene di caccia e curiosi dettagli come due amanti che entrano in un boschetto parlandosi con dei… fumetti in gotico! Assolutamente unico e imperdibile. Vale il biglietto (ma è gratuito per i soci FAI).
