We shared a wonderful guided tasting of the wines with a nice American couple from Manhattan - expertly led by one of the young employees at the winery. We tried 7 or so wines with lively discussion over the course of an hour or so and were sad we couldn't bring home more of their wine. We'll be back to visit them next time we're in the region. Very friendly!

I was fortunate enough to have a tour and tasting with Francesca Vajra, and the afternoon was honestly a highlight of my recent trip to Piemonte. I tasted Barolos at two other wineries during the trip but Vajra wines stood out as delicious, high quality examples of what a talented winemaker can do with this sometimes difficult grape. When we were done with the Barolos, Francesca encouraged me to also try their Barbera, Moscato d'Asti, and the little known Freisa. During the tour and the tasting, Francesca shared family stories about the development of the vineyards and winery, and this gave me special insight into the farming and wine worlds. The visit to Vajra made for a day I will always remember.

Recently visited G.D. Vajra from a recommendation and reading of their respect to terrior and planting correct grapes where they will truly prosper. Arranged an appointment and recieved an excellent tour of the facilities by a kind and knowledgable young lady who showed the processes and answer questions very thoroughly. Then did a tasting of many wines of my choosing each of which she went through in detail and showed where on the map they came from. Personal favorites were the Riesling and the Luigi Baudana Barolo, but all wines were exceptional. Given option to buy all G.D. Vajra in multiple vintages. Definitely recommend for the wine-lover

We were walking through Vergne and noticed the Vajra winery so decided to see if we could stop in for a tasting. We met the owners wife who asked her son to take care of us and so he took us down to the tasting room where we met a lovely lady who took us through the tasting and winery tour. GD Vajra is a high end producer in this region with vineyards from both the west around Vergne and Barolo as well as further east in Serralunge D'Alba and so they are able to show the differences that this makes in the wine. My only problem was that we were on a walking holiday and so could only fit another 2 bottles into our luggage to take home!

G.D. Vajra is one of the top echelon producers in Barolo, but the are decidedly introspective. They fly under the radar, therefore they have not yet gained the widespread recognition that they deserve, but I assure you that they are worth seeking out. Although their own wines were already among the best in Barolo, they acquired a struggling label called Luigi Baudana and turned those wines into world-class Barolos too. The hospitality hostess is Anna, an American ex-pat who fell in love with Italy, married an Italian man, clearly loves every moment of her work. She made us feel so welcome, and special. We were also warmly greeted by the matriarch of the winery, Milena. She is so kind, and thoughtful. She treated us as if we were members of her family. Besides the wonderful Barolos, and Barberas, you must try their take on the ubiquitous Chinato. It is Christmas in a glass !

Quest'anno nell'ormai abituale giro delle cantine del Piemonte che faccio ogni anno con alcuni amici, siamo stati a visitare la cantina Vajra nella frazione di Vergne a Barolo.È una cantina non molto grande gestita dalla famiglia; siamo stati accolti da uno dei figli che con molta passione chi ha raccontato la storia della cantina e di come il padre ha iniziato a produrre vino.La visita è proseguita con un giro della cantina, dove tra l'altro si sta lavorando alla costruzione di una nuova ala.Per finire ottima degustazione. Abbiamo avuto il piacere di provare bianchi e rossi tra cui ben 3 Baroli! Personalmente ho molto apprezzato il Riesling, il famoso Bricco delle Viole e con mia grande sorpresa il Moscato (erano anni che non ne bevevo uno così buono).Complimenti sia per il vino che per l'accoglienza!

L’azienda è a conduzione familiare, non ci sono i numeri dei colossi Ceretto & Co. ma quello che invece si respira è la totale devozione che questa famiglia ha per il vino. La nostra accompagnatrice, Anna ( complimenti per la disponibilità e la professionalità nonostante la giovane età) ci ha accompagnato dalla visita della cantina sino alla degustazione in sala. Tutti i vini molto buoni ( riesling, dolcetto, barbera, barolo, moscato, barolo chinato), un plus al barolo “Albe”.Piccolo-grande neo sulla mancanza di cibo da accompagnare ai vini, la degustazione è gratuita peró si pagherebbe volentieri un extra per avere anche solo un pezzo di formaggio e due fette di salame!

Haben eine Weinprobe an einem Sonntag Nachmittag ganz allein dort gemacht. Sie haben dort sehr gute Weine und es wurde uns alles erklärt. Wir haben verschiedene Wein probieren können und man ist auf unsere Wünsche sehr gut eingegangen. G.D. Vajra ist vielleicht nicht so bekannt wie andere ... und auch nicht so leicht zu finden, aber man sollte auf jeden Fall mal vorbeischauen wenn man einen ausgezeichneten Barolo probieren und auch kaufen möchte.

Esperienza davvero unica e gratificante!Azienda a conduzione familiare, immersa nei vigneti e nello splendido paesaggio delle Langhe, dove si percepisce chiaramente la passione che i titolari, e non solo, mettono nel loro lavoro. Lavoro e' persino riduttivo, e' la loro attivita', la loro vita che trasmettono con emozione nei tanti clienti che ricevono quotidianamente.Dopo una piacevolissima visita dell'azienda, pulita e curata sin nei minimi dettagli, il nostro gentilissimo sommelier, davvero professionale e competente, ci ha deliziati con un' ottima degustazione di vini sapientemente selezionati .Strepitoso il moscato e il barolo chinato! Ma anche il riesling e il barbera bricco delle viole....Impossibile uscire di li' a mani vuote, anche se non si e' super intenditori di vino...e non si portano solo a casa eventuali bottiglie di ottimo vino ma una sensazione di benessere, di pace e di piacere che ti resta addosso per un po'...questa azienda, cosi' come tutti questi paesini delle Langhe, con i loro scorci spettacolari, i ristorantini, i tanti b&b, creano dipendenza e nostalgia, non sei ancora neanche partito che gia' non vedi l'ora di tornarci...Da consigliare assolutamente!!!
