This is a super castle to visit with fun waylays for kids. The castle reconstruction is almost genuine, the armoury includes touching and wearing breast plates and holding the toolss of medeival war.The a surrounding views are breathtakings and the castle locations are well documented in 3 languages.Highly recommended.

The Castle is not advertised a lot, but it's really worth to visit it if you stay in Trentino or Garda Lake. It is located not far from Trento, on a hill that dominates the Adige valley. The Castle is well preserved and very well maintained. It is clean, personnel is present and there are pic-nic areas as well as entertainment sites for kids. We really enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone. Tickets are low, with many possibilities for reductions (IKEA family too!).

I was a bit apprehensive in driving up the steep climb to the castle, but once on the road up, it was not too bad at all. An impressive historical monument, which one should visit preferably in the morning before the heat strikes. Proper walking shoes is a requirement to walk the steep walkway to the Castelo It's worthwhile to watch the very informative film of ca 25 minutes before exploring the Castelo. It is also impressive to learn and see just how much work, reconstruction effort had taken place over the years. Very well kept and beautiful greens between the walls. Huge grounds where one can roam about and explore. There is sanitary facilities and a Cafe for refreshments. The owners spoke English and served us a" killer" Panini and Aperol!!!

I've been living in Italy for 2 months and have visited a number of castles, and this has been my favorite because you can walk around freely (self-guided tour) and there's so much to see. The grounds and castle itself are immense and you could spend hours walking around seeing everything. They have nice exhibits and allow you to be hands-on with the artifacts, whereas most other castles have strict no touch policies and tour guides watching you like a hawk. You can even put on armor and handle old weapons. It's really nice for going at your own pace and well worth the 5 euro entrance fee.From town we were a little confused about how to reach the castle but followed signs up to a parking lot, from where it's only about a 10 minute uphill walk. We had seen other information that said you had to hike from town, so we were very grateful for the parking lot.

Huge, well conserved, romantic...and just perfect :o)We spent a whole day there, and left only because it was closing its gates in the evening...Since that time, we compare all castles to this - and the winner is still il Castello di Beseno!

L’ho sempre visto percorrendo l’autostrada e mi aveva incuriosito. Così un bel giorno, in compagnia della mia fidanzata, sulla via dei mercatini natalizi, abbiam deciso di andare a visitarlo.Il castello è fantastico! Tutto è tenuto benissimo, ci sono varie zone adibite a museo con esposte armi e armature di varie epoche e altre dove sono proposti “giochi” per grandi e piccini.La vista da ogni lato del castello è formidabile! Non potevano trovare punto migliore per costruirlo.Una visita tranquilla, seguendo i cartelli che spiegano le varie zone del castello, si può fare indicativamente in 3-4 ore (con molta calma).La notte dall’autostrada lo si può vedere tutto illuminato, splendido!Insomma, da non perdere!

Il CASTEL BESENO è la più grande fortezza antica della Regione Trentino e domina con la sua imponenza la Valle dell'Adige. E' situato su una collina tra ROVERETO e TRENTO. Sovrasta il paese di BESENELLO - Per la sua grandiosità si respira ancora oggi un'atmosfera carica di fascino e suggestione d'altri tempi. Dista da Trento una ventina di chilometri, da Rovereto una decina di chilometri.In questo Castello vi sono conservate armi e armature originali dell'Epoca (XV° - XVII° Secolo) ma anche repliche fedeli che possono essere indossate e maneggiate da quei visitatori che desiderano immedesimarsi respirando l'aria e l'atmosfera di un tempo passato quando gli uomini in armi (sentinelle) dovevano difendere le mura del Castello dagli invasori con frecce appuntite o pronti allo sparo con cannonate. Un Castello fortificato medioevale, dove vivevano oltre che il Signore Feudatario e la sua Famiglia anche Signori e Dame di Corte.L'interno del CASTEL BESENO è costituito da ampi spazi: bastioni, cortili, porte fortificate, da mura maestose, camminamenti di ronda, da cantine e cisterne. Numerosi sono gli affreschi visibili, ma in gran parte rovinati dal tempo, dalle intemperie. Fra gli affreschi la serie di stemmi dei Nobili Tirolesi che combatterono la Battaglia di Calliano.Dal CASTELLO si può ammirare la vallata sottostante: la VALLAGARINA e il sottostante RIO CAVALLO a strapiombo. Su questo versante si possono notare le feritoie del Castello.Un po' di Storia: Dal XII° Secolo il Castel Beseno fu feudo dei Conti APPIANO, successivamente sotto il controllo di GUGLIELMO II° che si prodigò al restauro di una buona parte del Castello. Nel Quattrocento, il Castel Beseno venne distrutto a seguito di un incendio. Venne ricostruito e rinnovato, trasformandosi da Castello Medioevale a Castello Residenziale mantenendo le sue peculiarità di fortezza difensiva ben armata. Nel 1700 fu assediato dalle truppe napoleoniche. Nel 1800 ebbe una fase di decadimento. Nel 1900 (XX° Secolo) il Castello venne donato dai Conti TRAPP (ultimi proprietari ) alla Provincia di Trento che lo restaurò portandolo più possibile al suo antico splendore. Recupero eccellente. Una esposizione permanente attraverso ricostruzioni,plastici e video illustra al visitatore la Battaglia di Calliano tra le Truppe Veneziane e quelle Tirolesi del 1487 (Allestita nelle sale del Palazzo di Marcabruno) - Consigliato vedere il filmato della storia del Castello, perché è affascinate vedere l'evoluzione della struttura durante il passare degli anni. (In una delle prime stanze dopo l'ingresso)Il complesso del CASTEL BESENO affascina come tutti i Castelli e Fortezze dei Secoli passati. Il visitatore viene coinvolto per il fascino che il Castello nella sua completezza emana. Visitare il Castello si viene catapultati indietro nel tempo respirando un'aria d'altri tempi e la visione globale del paesaggio che lo circonda appaga gli occhi del visitatoreIl complesso del CASTEL BESENO è a forma ellittica e si estende in lunghezza per 250 metri e 50 metri nella sua larghezza. Visitatelo, ne vale la pena, non vene pentirete. Vi sentirete appagati culturalmente.
