The "professoresa" is so passionate about the site and gives an in depth explanation of the history of the site. Well worth visiting.

We have been wanting to do this visit ever since we came to live in Sabina a while ago, and we have not been disappointed. It's the best thing to do, to get to know Rieti and its past. Moreover, it's original, unusual, enchanting and very well documented. Our guide, Alessia, spoke with passion and had an answer to very question. (I don't know if this guided tour is offered only in Italian - not a problem for us - but it might be for other foreign tourists). And only 5 Euros for more than 90 minutes, it's a bargain. If you ever come to Rieti, this tour is a must, and you'll love it

We decided to take this tour based on Trip Advisor reviews. Best idea ever! Our guide, Rita, is the archaeologist who spearheaded the restoration of these tunnels. she is extremely knowledgable on many many topics. We were the only ones on this tour, so we got the full benefit of her expertise. We had a very enjoyable and fun time exploring the underworld of Rieti's history. Highly recommended!

The pretty and peaceful town of Rieti is filled with Roman history along with Italian architecture and art but discovering the underground buildings on which the city is built was an unexpected treat. Tour given in English was very thorough and informative. Amazing to think we only saw 4000 sq metres and there are still another 21,000 metres to be excavated!

Our tour guide Rita made the old city come to life. Very informative. Rita is an excellent tour guide.

This address was not the easiest place to find but that was because we were not looking for what appeared to be a little shop so it's probably easier to use the telephone number listed. As there were only two of us Rita was kindly able to add us on to an English speaking group scheduled for one evening later in the week. The tour lasts a good one and a half to two hours and has you following arches and passageways under the streets and buildings as well as going above ground for the theatre and cathedral. Rita's English is very good and she explained the history and development of everything with real enthusiasm. If you enjoy history and architecture you'll love this.

This was an entirely unexpected and fascinating tour. We were first of all shown the remains of the old Roman Bridge next to the more modern medieval one and given a history lesson on Rieti. We were then taken of a tour under the city around the old bridge which now forms the foundations of the main shopping street of the newer city. The story of how the city was formed by building up against the bridge is amazing and wonderful. Rieti is a lovely and interesting city and the underground tour is hugely interesting. Definitely worth a visit.

We did this tour as part of a small group of friends last Saturday afternoon. Our main reason for being in the area was to walk the mountain tracks to the principal Franciscan shrines and, of itself, that purpose would have more than justified the visit. However, the two hours or so in the company of guide Rita Giovanelli added immensely to our understanding of the valley in which we stood. Her tour explained the history of the area from pre-Roman times to the relatively recent addition of Rieti to the province of Lazio to ensure a copious supply of spring water for the citizens of Rome. What made the tour special was that our guide is an active participant in the ongoing excavation of the Roman, medieval and more recent structures. This tour is well worth your time and the modest fee!

Amazing tour, with a very experienced guide. It makes you really see and understand the origins and development of this city! We also happened to go to a night reception inside these grottos with typical food and wine. It was really an amazing experience!
