Lovely views and interesting visit. A good insight in how the Franciscan monks lived in the 16th century. Lovely exhibition of various religious cribs.

There are a number of sanctuaries of St. Francis in this area. Each are special in their own way. This one is probably the best of them all.

A wonderful village set among the mountains where you can enjoy a wonderful view, have good food and visit the Franciscan Sanctuary of the First Crib. It is worth a visit, to relax and forget the stress of your everyday life.

Greccio is a pretty little village with wonderful scenery but the main attraction to the area is the sanctuary set in the hills, where St Francis made his home. Beautiful, peaceful setting. Really interesting to see the original and new churches and learn more about his life. This us the birthplace of the Christmas Nativity scene that is set out by Christians worldwide each December. Must be able to manage steps to access anything, so could be a problem for some people wishing to visit.

if you are interested in a scenic place , not very far from Rieti, where you can enjoy the scenarios of mother nature, some quiet and the opportunity to visit the monastery of saint Francis, where he made the first nativity representation you are in the right place.it is also nice to visit the small but characteristic medieval town center 3 kilometers from the monastery and museum. parking is free and there are four typical restaurant in the town center that serve original regional food and drinks.

There was a trail of murals/ paintings on the walls by various artist but this did nothing to improve our initial impression on arriving in the village: everything was too clean, too white, too perfect. There was no atmosphere despite the fact there was a wedding taking place whilst we were there. Very disappointed.

Domenica 8 marzo siamo stati a visitare questo tanto decantato "borgo medioevale". Carina la vista dalla parte più alta, simpatica la piazzetta e la chiesetta arroccata, ma finito quì...Non voglio innescare polemiche, ma qualcuno l'ha definito "uno dei borghi più belli d'Italia......ma per favore..." Se decidete come noi di visitare Rieti, allora ha senso fare un salto a vedere il paese, ma sconsiglio di programmare un viaggio solo per questa metà.

in questo posto si possono ammirare i luoghi dove è vissuto San Francesco........davvero un'oasi di pace e serenità.Molto interessante la mostra di presepi provenienti da tutto il mondo.

La valle santa reatina è un sistema di paesi a breve distanza di cammino che S. Francesco visitava durante la sua missione con i Frati. Greccio è il luogo più conosciuto e visitato, per la memoria del primo presepe allestito nella notte di Natale del 1223 da S. Francesco. Tutto parla della memoria francescana e del Natale, per tutto l'anno. Dell'antica semplicità nel santuario poco è rimasto, visto che da secoli è meta di pellegrini illustri tra cui molti Papi. L'affresco nella grotta del primo corridoio con la Madonna che allatta il Bambinello infasciato è di una bellezza e tenerezza magnetica.

Un eremo di tranquillita' dove si respira un'aria particolare. Interessante visita da non mancare. C'era pero' tanta neve e quindi un po' freddino
