Pietrasanta is a pretty town where the Church of Pietrasanta faces the long square in front of the monumental church and convent of Sant'Augusto. Built by the Lucchese in 1255 the Church preserves in large part its 14th century Gothic outline. Inside are well-known 15th and 16th century sculpted decorations, in particular, work sod Lorenzo and Stagio Stagl. One could use a good art/tour guide in Pietrasanta because there is little in the way of signage or or any brochure in English and one needs to sort of push his or her way into doorways.

For some reason Pietrasanta does not feature hugely in the list of must sees for this area and it is such a shame as it is well worth a visit. We walked from Viareggio (yes, a long walk with little shade, but you can easily cycle or take the train or bus if you don't wan to drive.)The duomo is lovely as is the bell tower with its amazing spiral staircase. The whole Piazza is very picturesque and the streets leading off deserve exploration.When we were visiting there were lots of sculptures in the street including about 10 (+/-) massive strollers (yes pushchairs for giants!) and you could sit in them. Great photo opportunities although getting out of the stroller is fun!. Go. Lots of small bars around.

Really charming small church in center of town. Well worth a visit.....Baptismal font across street in small Capella.....the Duomo has beautiful frescos and details.

Great to have a coffee at the Bar Michelangelo and walk around the town in the evening checking out all the art galleries.

The church has some beautiful elements but even more special is the Baptistry, hidden in a doorway across the road.

The Duomo is nice and the stain glass windows are very pretty. The bell tower is also interesting. The square is full of Italian families with the children running around and everyone with there dogs.

Visited the Duomo at Pisa on same trip and preferred Duomo in Pietrasanta. The piazza where the duomo is situated is a very lively and Italian, non-tourist feel area.

ricco di opere e sculture è il simbolo della piccola cittadina e posto nella piazza centrale. Il marmo, pregiata risorsa delle cave versiliesi, è rappresentato in grande nel Duomo di Pietrasanta. Poichè vivo a Pietrasanta e spesso ho la fortuna di visitare e frequentare questo luogo sacro, consiglio la visita a tutti quelli che non l'hanno ancora visto.

Pa piazza del Duomo di Pietrasanta colpisce per la tranquillita', la serenita', la pulizia.Molto interessante la visita del duomo, peccato non aver potuto vedere l'immagine della MAdonna Del Sole, che viene esposta solo in poche occasioni l'anno.E' valsa la pena fare una digressione nel percorso verso Livorno per recarsi a Pietrasanta.
