Gorgeous place with lots to do and see. Swimming in the lake is a must. There are so many fantastic restaurants to choose from. Getting around is easy with a great bus service.

Amazing views as one descends from the hills towards the lake... the cool waters in the lake beaches are refreshing. fantastic restaurants with really good service and food if you are lucky like we were. Don't stick to the sea views only. There is a lot going on inland and the walks in the city are mesmerizing. Enjoy every single moment here. run away from tourist attractions only and get to see more around.

We stayed at Sirmione. The view from the castle in the town is amazing. The lake is graceful and elegant. There are many good restaurants and shops selling Italian bags and other stuff. I bought a nice hairpin and umbrella. We rode on a bike to Persichiera at the evening. It was a weekday and there was nobody on the way. But on weekends, there are just too many people to ride on a bike. I cannot forget the view from the castle, simply too amazing. There is a bus from Verona train station to Simirone(Our hotel is at Via Columbare, which is close to the town). The ride takes around 1 hour 15 mins.

Liked the coach tours, disliked the hotel food and service, noisy on band night. No A/C as it was "out of season."

We stayed at Riva del Garda two years ago, we drove on the ss45bis on our way from Milan to riva del Garda. My wife and I believe it to be one of the most scenic drives we've ever experienced. If you love driving and breathtaking scenery don't miss this!

Traveled twice to Italy and stayed near the lake. I went almost daily to the lake, and traveled all around it visiting the nice and dreamy villages that touches its coasts. The water is clean and clear like in a calm sea.Would visit again for sure.

The lake is surrounded by mountains. All along the shores there are quaint villages with steep cobbled streets and lakeside walks. We went out of season when it was quiet but apparently two million people, most of them young Italians, visit in the summer. There are discos, nightclubs, fun fairs, bars, cafes and everything a young person could want. But they shut down out of season and it is much quieter. If you are over 35 go in late September or early October. Visit Sirmione and the villages on the west side of the lake - Limone is scenic too.
