This castle has a long and interesting history with a small garden and park area. The tour of the castle rooms is guided and limited to the staterooms used by the family for entertaining. The fascinating thing here is that the family were mercenaries in a time when there was a good living in such. There exploits ranged from Malta to England and there CV or resume is written on the stateroom walls in the form of frescos demonstrating there sometimes bloody successes in war. The rooms were a 16th century marketing campaign for their services. Whilst much of the castle is not on show the bits you can see are fascinating to the life of a rich mercenary family. The tour is guided and on our tour given in Italian and English the tour guide had excellent English and went out her way to make sure that we understood the content. Just note that there are no refreshments here and the gates only open at the precise opening time, so don't go early as we did thinking you could while away quarter of an hour in the car park.

We are very happy that you admired the magnificence of this castle and we thank you.Our guides speaks all English and some of them also French and German. We can offer tours in foreign language by appointment, for groups.During normal opening time we have to offer the visit in the official language and we have to adjust the duration of the visit to the different needs of different types of visitors. 1 hour is the best compromise.P.S. I do not think you can define our guide "garrulous" (which has a negative connotation) only because you do not undestand Italian language.

It is true that this castle needs a lot of restorations, but I assure you that every euro that visitors pay is used for the villa. The big problem is that we do not earn enough money for all necessary works :-(Thanks for visiting us!

E' stata una visita molto bella : peccato che le stanze da visitare siano poche, e che i beni culturali lascino andare allo sfascio dei patrimoni storici così belli e importanti.Non sapevamo nemmeno l'esistenza di questo castello, se non fosse stato per dei volantini messi in hotel.La guida è bravissima e preparatissima. Un'oretta immersi nella storia. Da vedere.

la guida che piu' che guida mi e' sembrato un narratore sa coinvolgere le persone che vanno a visitare il catajo in una maniera spettacolare......da ritornare si ma da vedere almeno una volta nella vita

Abbiamo passato una bellissima domenica al castello. Affreschi stupendi, atmosfera magica e una guida eccellente ci hanno catapultato direttamente nel 1500 facendoci rivivere la storia, lo sfarzo e il dramma della famiglia Obizzi.Un'esperienza che consigliamo a tutti in abbinata ad un ottimo pranzo all'agriturismo biologico Monte Ceva poco distante.

Il castello è opera antica davvero imponente.La vista dalla strada Battaglia è molto bella.E’ sicuramente interessante farvi una visita, anche se la parte dì cui si può godere è solo quella del fronte strada, con alcune sale che si sono magnificamente conservate con i loro importanti affreschi e decorazioni.Bella e grande anche la terrazza sopraelevata rispetto al primo ingresso. Certo che il castello avrebbe bisogno di restauri importanti, in quanto gli spazi vastissimi che stanno dietro le citate stanze primarie è davvero fatiscente.Si organizzano anche eventi vari e magari potete approfittare di uno di questi per far una visita.

Il Castello del Catajo è un luogo pazzesco quanto poco conosciuto. Affreschi incredibili, sale completamente ricoperte di colore, una storia che farebbe invidia a tutte le più grandi dimore storiche del mondo, assolutamente consigliato.

bella posizione vicino ai canali e tra campi e colline. Struttura un po' decadente in alcune parti ma che mostra ancora la passata grandezza con ambienti molto belli ed affrescati.

Il castello è molto bello e particolare. Gli affreschi delle sali interne sono perfettamente conservati. Lo stesso non si può dire per l'esterno.
