You can only admire this wonderful catle from outside, because to visit it you must enter the "Palazzo Ducale", in "Piazza Sordello" : the two buildings (and others, also) are connected from inside.Works are in progress, inside and outside, due to the heartquake that hit Mantova in 2012.

The famous Saint George castle, this beautiful attraction is located a short distance from the historic city center, opposite the long lake and within walking distance from anywhere in the city without any problem. A beautiful example of medieval fortress perfectly intact and well preserved over the centuries, powerful walls around it and a small pond, in the classic buildings of that type. I have not visited it in and frankly I do not even know if you can do it, but it was a pleasure to admire it from the outside and to discover some secret talking with the local people.

A beautiful restored castle and wonderful museum. You could spend the day, but 3 hours suffices. You can feel the power and wealth of the ruling families.

only one/two rooms to visit so its really an in and out thing taking up to about five minutesas you are there you might as well take the time

The castle is temporarily under repairmen because of the earthquake two years ago. But the room of the most famous dome painting is still open. It's amazingly beautiful, the angels are So innocent And cute:)) the river surround the castle is So clear And I was imagine How wonderful it would be to lie on the grass there in front of the castel;)

Lovely area with many spots to walk along the walls and in surrounding garden. Interesting architecture comparable to Verona it felt at times.

Un resoconto della visita sarebbe troppo lungo, il consiglio è di visitarlo, merita, fatevi accompagnare da una guida potrete godere di alcuni dettagli molto interessanti non presenti sulle guide ma che vi faranno apprezzare meglio la visita (una chicca, nella camera degli sposi cercate l'autoritratto del Mantegna se lo trovate!). Belli ma non sempre visitabili anche i giardini segreti (pensili), peccato che ancora molte delle parti minori del castello non siano visitabili.

Bellissimo castello dal forte impatto e molto scenografico,idelae per foto ricordo della città di mantova, unico problema è che è chiuso e non si può visitare per manutenzione, peccato dovrò accontentarmi dell'esterno!!!

Bhe questa è una tappa obbligatoria per ogni turista che si rispetti.... e anche per i mantovani che hanno voglia di scoprire la propria città.... castello meraviglioso e assolutamente da vedere !!

Mi trovo spesso per lavoro a Mantova e ogni volta che arrivo in città, nel percorrere l'omonimo ponte stradale, mi sorprendo della bellezza del panorama offerto dal lago con sullo sfondo il castello di san Giorgio. Lo stesso si riflette sulle acque del lago e offre la possibilità di fare delle fotofrafie di grande effetto.
