Ogni volta che vado a Cremona entro in questa chiesa, l'affresco con il martirio della santa e l'antica tavoletta rendono questa chiesa magica. La preferisco di gran lungo alla cattedrale tanto osannata.

Molte chiese di Cremona sono belle internamente, quello che distingue santa agata dalle altre sono i mosaici che potete ammirare.

Risalente al 1077, fu ricostruita in stile romanico nel XII secolo. Della chiesa originaria rimane oggi solo il campanile, il più antico fra le torri campanarie ancora esistenti in città. La chiesa romanica fu a sua volta rifatta nel 1496 in cinque navate, mentre la facciata attuale, in stile neoclassico è frutto di un rifacimento del 1835. All'interno opere cinquecentesche.

Una incantevole chiesa, ricca di opere d'arte bellissime, come il quadro raffigurante S. Agata e la volta. Non si rimarrà delusi!

Consiglio la visita nel tardo pomeriggio, perche con il calare del sole le colonne del frontale diventano di un colore splendido. Poco lontano dal centro di Cremona, lungo il corso Garibaldi troviamo questa secolare chiesa al cui interno esempi di arte, di stucchi e di sculture fanno una mostra che riempe l'occhio. Mycket fin kyrka. Vi tyckte att denna kyrkan nog var finare än katedralen på torget. Mäkta imponerande målningar och rosettfönster. Kunde även se biktbås.

No! Non mi sono fermato alla visita della Cattedrale di Cremona e Torrazzo. Trovandomi in questa meravigliosa città ho voluto visitare anche la "Chiesa di Santa Agata". E certo non ne sono rimasto deluso, anche dopo uno una visita tanto eccellente come quella alla Cattedrale. Non solo non ne sono rimasto deluso, ma Cremona mi ha offerto quel tanto di più che solo una grande città d'arte sa darti. La Chiesa di Santa Agata è, infatti, una vera risorsa di cultura e bellezza. Rifatta dall'architetto Bernardino di Lera l'interno non conserva nulla della primitiva decorazione cinquecentesca ma solo, e non è poco, due frammenti ad affresco: una Madonna addolorata nella navata destra e un Cristo alla colonna nella navata sinistra. Documenti storici e architettonici di immenso valore. Ho anche osservato con interesse, nella cappella laterale della navata la preziosa tavola rappresentativa della Sacra Famiglia con Maria Maddalena, esempio del nobile stile di Boccaccio Boccacino, nel 1518. Qualcuno può chiedersi: "Non ti è stata sufficientemente utile la visita alla "Cattedrale di Cremona e Torrazzo"? Risposta: "Il mio gusto per l'arte mi ha spinto oltre e mi ha indotto a visitare un'altra storica chiesa: la "Chiesa di Santa Agata". Mi auguro che tanti altri turisti facciano altrettanto.
