I have no idea why the price was 1.55 Euro, a very odd number, but having taken the wrong train and ending up in La Spezia instead of Vernazza for the afternoon, we made the best of it and headed for this place as the boys thought it better than another art museum. A lot of very cool scale replicas of various ships from different ages (including the Kon Tiki, which tickled the boys), some great nautical weaponry, mastheads, ship wheels, instrumentation, and various items which intrigued us for a good 90 minutes. If you are in town and have kids that like his kind of stuff, a great museum to visit, esp. for the price. I have to say I don't know if that is the "regular" price or not though, as it just seemed too cheap and oddly priced.

For many ages La Spezia was a cornerstone Italian naval town. This museum has plenty of facts that prove its vital importance as a civil port and military base.A big section is dedicated to world-known maiale (manned torpedos) operation during WW I and II. Huge collection of Marconi experimential radio transmitters and many many more.A must-seen palce for all navy-addicted people!

I am an ex Italian navy officer, and I love Maritime museums. The one of La Spezia has some very nice artifacts which are almost unique in the world, such as the world's largest collections of scafanders and figureheads. My hope is that the Italian navy will find the money to modernize the museum, make more space to show its artifacts (there is a piece of the famous Italian 2nd WW submarine Scirè, exposed in a pitifully maintained garden), provide state of the art audiovisual to explain the artifacts.But it is definitively worth visiting

The items are interesting and the guides helped to explain everything very well.The fortress is very large and important although not very busy.It shows how important it was in the past for the city. and how now it has formed a road way to various parts of the city

There are exhibits with old naval pieces from the WW and II WW, it is very interesting if you are find of all these technical stuff.

The museum is a very interesting place for having a true and honest picture of the italian navy state of the art in different decades. Most incredibile section is about the second world war relics, where you can touch a primitive small submarine-water jet.

è un posto fantastico e grande,,,, grandissimo.. tutte le barche in miniature e soprattutto la barca grande di legno antica è bellissima... ma l'ineguagliabile è il sottomarino da entrare e visitare,,, consiglio a tutti appassionati e non di barche di visitarlo

Consiglio vivamente a tutti di visitare questo museo!oltre esporre pezzi unici contiene un sacco di informazioni urli sulla storia della marineria italiana!biglietto non esoso e visita molto lunga!forse l'unica cosa che funziona a la spezia gestita dalla Marina Militare!

Pour les amoureux de la marine de guerre en général et des nageurs de combat en particulier. Le musée est plus spécialement tourné vers les torpilles ainsi que vers les nageurs ayant chevauché ces engins pendant la seconde guerre mondiale.Aujourd'hui ces machines très sophistiquées sont fabriquées en collaboration avec l'usine de Saint Tropez. (Oui oui il y a une usine de torpilles dans la ville du gendarme...)Un musée de petite surface mais important quand aux engins et à l'histoire exposée. Il se trouve près du port, à l'entrée de l'arsenal de La Spézia.
