Visited here lots over the years and it never ceases to be a lovely day out. Great little bar, artisan shops and stunning views. The tower hasn't been repaired yet since the earthquake but it's still a great wee day out

We were visiting Gran Sasso Park and came to visit S. Stefano di Sassanio due to other reviews on Trip Advisor. We return here every year and often bring first time Italy visitors to see this beautiful area of Abruzzo. I have seen many historic sights and towns in Italy, but this was a little treasure to me and we will definitely return. The people are friendly and I loved the little shops. The streets are narrow with lovely views. Take it slowly, and drink it in!

if you go faster of 10 miles/h. you will be out of the towns but the views are worth going to this little town in the National Park of Sasso.

One of the most beutiful views of Apenins, breathtaking nature and cute stores. Old Italian spirit is present everywhere.

This is a well restored medieval village that may rely entirely on a tourist economy. Good for a day or two even in off season.

A picturesque hamlet of original and restored medieval buildings set in the National park. The locals who run the bar, little shops and restaurants are welcoming and sell locally sourced products. We stayed in the converted buildings restored to there original beauty at Sextantio but there are other places to stay equally charming. If you are visiting the weekends are the busiest but during the week you can have it to yourself with the pretty little cats and very friendly town dogs (who will greet you with a wagging tail). You cannot take a bad photo here.

A gentle wander around a village like this with its network of steep narrow 'streets' is like stepping into another world. I can't think of anything like this anywhere in Britain. We visited on a warm day in May and stayed much longer than we intended, enjoying the views and the peaceful atmosphere. A cold drink in the little village square was the perfect end to the day. We left clutching a large chunk of the local cheese.

Quiet in the winter months, but a lovely little borgo. Worth a day trip out of Rome, or better yet stay the night at the Albergo Diffuso!

Like stepping into a movie. Absolutely beautiful, scenic and oh so quiet. Loved the dog and cats running around the town and they all tried to charme themselves to a treat of cuddle and a kiss or two. Which they all (ofcourse) got.
