You've gone to the Dom, the Dreifaltigkeitskirche, and now are strolling for a few minutes past the Altportel to this huge beauty, open after 2 PM. The "newish" stained glass windows are particularly stunning. Much is from the turn of the last century. Sit in pews near the windows, delight in the saturation of the colors, and study the subtle shading and the facial expressions. We were lucky that the organist was practicing during our visit and so were treated to a free concert with monstrous effect in the cavernous facility. The feeling is completely different from that of the Dom or the Baroque Dreifaltigkeitskirche.

This is a simple church with original wood, and although Martin Luther was close to here in 'Worms' in 1521, I don't think he was ever here in person. Great ideas with pews allowing to seats per person, to enable a quick seat change to follow the minister up to the main pulpit without having to turn. Fantastic murals, and a beautiful organ as well.

We were very pleasantly surprised at the beauty of this early Reformation Church. Amazing murals of the stories of the old and new testament. I feel it is a must see in Speyer. It is probably the most interesting Protestant Church that we have seen in Germany.

Da wir am Sonntag in Speyer waren, konnten wir die voll tönenden Glocken genießen. Allerdings sahen wir die Kirche nur durch einen Türspalt, weil gerade Gottesdienst war. Aber schon von außen ein wunderschönes Gotteshaus.

Die Gedächntiskirche der evangelischen Reformation ist ein Stück Geschichte in Speyer, das man gesehen haben sollte!Die Kirche ist leider schwer zu beheizen, egal wann, man bekommt im Gottesdienst kalte Füße,-aber da kann der Pfarrer wirklich nichts dafür:-)Sie lohnt aber immer einen Besuch!

Speyer und sein Dom - das gehört zusammen und (fast) jeder hat zumindest schon mal vom Speyerer Dom gehört. Weniger bekannt ist, dass auch Luther in Speyer war. Die Stadt also auch für die evangelische Kirche eine Bedeutung hat. An Luthers Besuch erinnert diese wunderschöne gotische Kirche, die mit ihren Spitzbögen, farbigen Fenstern und Ziegeln von Außen und Innen sehenswert ist. Ebenfalls wunderschön, wenn auch ganz anders als der Dom. Vom Dom kommend, die "Prachsstrasse" Maximilianstrasse entlang durchs Stadttor (Altpörtel) hindurch aufm dem Postplatz hinter dem Altpörtel links halten und wenn es nicht mehr gerade aus weiter geht links in die Gilgenstrasse einbiegen. Dort gerade aus an schönen Geschäften vorbei, bis zu einer großen Kreuzung und nach ca. 15 Minuten ist man dort und abseits der Touristenströme, die rund um den Dom unterwegs sind. Wer mag kann in der Gilgenstraße auch einen Blick ins Archäologische Schaufenster werfen. Bleibt man auf der linken Seite kommt es gegenüber der Bernarduskirche nach den Geschäften auf dem freien Platz vor der Kreuzung, an der die hier beschrieben Kirche steht.
